Summit kicks off the new limited-release Union Series with Meridian Session Ale. Inspired by Belgian Enkel (single) style ales. Drinkable yet distinctive. Simple in design yet complex in character. Brewed with a single malt, Concerto Pale, thatís a rising star in the UK and a new hop variety called Meridian that was actually discovered by accident in Oregon (more on that story below). Of course, we called it Meridian Session Ale for a reason. So donít let the whole single-minded thing keep you from ordering another round.

Bottle. Deep bronze reddish tinted brew with a light off white head. The nose is sweet and grainy with some pears. Notes of peanuts and toast are also present along with a fairly strong orange hint. This is fairly bitter with some orange peels and flowers. There is also some peanut character. Tasty with more bite thab expected. This is well done.

12oz bottle. Tan -orange body, faint haze. Frothy white head. Relatively mild aroma, some distant, cool, crisp, grassy hops. A pretty decent beer, not really a straightforward Belgian Singel. Significantly more bitter and dry than a typical version. Lots of depth, the grainy dry hops balance out quite well with the fruity orange-banana yeast tones. Pretty solid offering all around, a lot of flavor for the low ABV.

12 oz. bottle. Pours pale yet bright gold orange and shows a nice white soapy head that diminishes to a wispy film and collar. Aroma has nice pepper and biscuit slightly floral with some lemon zest and some yeast. Taste is more of the above with the biscuit like yeast and pepper really standing out also the lemon citrus notes are present as well. Palate is thin with a chalky dry finish. Pretty damn enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold color. Thin white head leaves nice lacing. Aroma is yeast, malt, and hops. Flavor is similar; light Belgian yeast, pale malts, and mild grassy hops. Dry and slightly bitter finish. Nice.

On tap @ Pizza Luce Richfield. Easy drinking and light in color. Has a taste that I canít compare to any other beer Iíve tried, I assume this is the Meridian Hops. Hints of citrus upfront with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Nice summer drinking beer.
