Dark consistent color with a touch of burgundy. Medium pace across the palate, and a mid-decibel finish create a brew fit for IPA fans and porters alike. Not a rock star, but a pleasant performer nonetheless: the ticket price is rather fair for the show. Silphium (2124), Haslett, Michigan, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 18, 2004 Deep red wine appearance, topped by a thin tan head. Dry, toasty aroma with chocolate notes. Toasty, chocolatey body with woody tannins that hint at dark fruits that never quite develop, although there is a red grapeskin characteristic to this beer. Aha! This is very, very similar to New Holland Dragon’s Milk, as a bubblegum sweetness develops as the beer warms. Me likey. hellomynameis (794), Mayer, Minnesota, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Nov 18, 2004 Nice large fluffy head, dark in colour, with great lacing. The aroma is a bit thin, mostly made up of malts, maybe a bit of chocolate. The body was a bit thinner than I prefer and the taste was a tad watered down. But it was pretty good overall. Dark amber brown ale with a fleeting beige head. Mild aroma of chocolate and caramel. Nutty malt aroma and flavor. I get no spices discernable at all. A good session beer for a winter ale. edbeered (2), St Paul, Minnesota, USA does not count | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Nov 12, 2004 A light but not unpleasing aroma. The taste has hints of spice and chocolate. Very smooth. A nice beer from Summit. heemer77 (4303), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 3, 2004 Pours from the bottle with almost no head and a very dark body. Had this in a Chimay chalice. A little bit of amber colored light slips throught when held up to the light. Aroma of chocolate and a little toffee. Also has some slight cooked mixed vegatables. The taste is some malty roasted coffee. Also has some dirt and leaves of fall. But this is pleasant. A real winner. JoeM500 (1876), Chicago (little italy), Illinois, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 30, 2004 This smelled like glue. Mostly flavorless and dry. Some bitter notes in the end. Medium finish. Also, there were some baked raisin pie flavors, which was nice.
