Commercial Description:
This unique seasonal beer offers the warmth of an old English pub to help ward off the chill of a winter’s night. It has its origins in British neighborhood pubs where villagers would gather to shake off the damp cold of the bitter English winter. They’d share a pint or two of winter warmer ale by the fire, catch up on local gossip, and stay inside, where it was warm. We’ve brewed our version in the tradition of those winter ales, with a robust, full-bodied flavor and a tangy hint of spices.

Dark brown color. Taste contains a little wood and some spices. Transports you to a little cabin in the Northwoods by the fire. Very fine.

Dark brown with a medium tan head. Aroma was incredibly light malt. Flavor was fantastic oak with nutmeg, nuts, and caramel malt. I find these beers facinating, where the aroma is very nondescript, yet the flavor is fantastic. It really takes you on a rollercoaster ride.

A small sized tan head that creamy and smooth with fine-medium sized bubbles that completely diminished. The body was carbonated with a mahogany hue. The nose malty with some caramel notes. The flavor was malty and caramel as well with a smooth mouthfeel and it was a medium bodied beer with fair lacing.

Beer poured a nice, thick head and has a dark brown color. Lightly carbonated and leaves a nice lace around the glass. Tastes a lot like a Stout to me, with the flavor of coffee, caramel and chocolate persisting. Good brew.

This brew poured a small head of fine to medium sized light brown colored bubbles that left behind a semi-transparent dark brown colored softly carbonated body and a fair lace. The aroma was mildy vinuous and contained malt and hop notes. The mouthfeel was mildly tingly and had a slight hop tingle in the finish. It also had a smooth brown beer like flavor with notes of caramel and chocolate.

Rich mohagany color with a lid of shiny light tan bubbles. Sweet mid roasted malts dominate the nose. Mild toasted malts with a light sweetness. Finish has a light bite of spice and alcohol. Smooth on the palate.

Not spectacular, but defiinitely okay. Still a seasonal favorite I keep coming back to. It's not exactly a winter ale, in my book--not like Blvd's nutcracker, for example. More like a porter, or even a dark alt. Nice hoppy aroma and taste. Just a tad watery in the mouth, but then that's my experience with most domestics, even the best ones. Nice roasted flavors. A lingering bitterness. Clinging circles of lace. Overall, a nice brew for these dark and cold evenings. I've found it tastes best around 60 degrees F; more flavorful at a slightly warmer temp than where I normally drink beer (around 50-55F). Although there are other winter and dark domestic beers I might prefer over this, I still think this is worth picking up at the right price.

Aroma: Kind of smells like cleaning supplies or rubbing alcohol with a bit of carmel and chocolate malts mixed in. Appearance: Dark brown, reddish with a small head. Flavor: Kind of watery, dry, and burnt tasting with slight chocolate and coffee flavors. Palate: Smooth with a bit of a harsh aftertaste, slightly carbonated like soda. Overall: Not very good wouldn't buy it again.
