Commercial Description:
This unique seasonal beer offers the warmth of an old English pub to help ward off the chill of a winter’s night. It has its origins in British neighborhood pubs where villagers would gather to shake off the damp cold of the bitter English winter. They’d share a pint or two of winter warmer ale by the fire, catch up on local gossip, and stay inside, where it was warm. We’ve brewed our version in the tradition of those winter ales, with a robust, full-bodied flavor and a tangy hint of spices.

Had this beer on 9/15/1999. Aroma is a sweet malt scent. Taste starts with a body that is rich with a sweet finish. It’s a bit too sweet for me.

Portlike ruby-brown and glear as glass. Tired head is composed of large bubbles. Gentle caramel, maraschino, and smoke scents. Surprising nutty flavor with cream soda, raisin, and fenugreek. Body is creamy and on the light side of medium, but a little chalky and drab. Zero carbonation. Subdued aftertaste sports roasty coffee-chocolate and seasalt flavors. Not bad, but not that good either.

Bottle. Looks dark copper with a light brown one-finger head. Aroma is not much to speak of; some malt and spice. Tastes of mild spices and caramel. Finish is unimpressive and not too complex. A decent beer, but I’ll be looking for other selections for my "winter mix".

Pours out a deep amner with a small white head that fades quickly. A nice roasted malt aroma. Taste is of malt, nuts, vanilla and mild spices. Light hop. A very nice medium bodied brew that goes down easy.

Very dark brown color with a small off-white head. A toasted caramel malt aroma, porter-like. A touch of clove in the taste with a bitterness up front. Mild aftertaste, not cloying. Average.

Bottle. Poured a nice chestnut red with a pretty big near brown head. Aroma is pretty milod--rost malts and only a little spice. Taste is burnt caramel malts with a little smoke flavor. Subtle spice. Finish is smooth mild smoke. Not too bad for the first winter beer I’ve had this season.

Bottle. I used to drink the hell out of this beer when I first got into craft beer. It was the end all be all to me. My, how times have change. aroma is mildly malty and grainy with hints of yeast, dough and caramel. Pours a decent looking dark brown with rich ruby highlights. Flavor is malty with some euro hops, a hint of anise and juniper. Slightly sweet with some earthy undertones. Medium bodied.

33 cl bottle, Fargo. Dark amber heavy malt aroma, sweet caramel flavor with some sharp hop bite. Warming alcohol finish.
