COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This unique seasonal beer offers the warmth of an old English pub to help ward off the chill of a winter’s night. It has its origins in British neighborhood pubs where villagers would gather to shake off the damp cold of the bitter English winter. They’d share a pint or two of winter warmer ale by the fire, catch up on local gossip, and stay inside, where it was warm. We’ve brewed our version in the tradition of those winter ales, with a robust, full-bodied flavor and a tangy hint of spices.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a clear reddish brown with a nice creamy biege head. Aroma of roasted malt and caramel. Taste is similar with just a bit of spice. Liked it for the small amount of spices. Good.

A very tasty seasonal ale from Summit. Pours medium brown with a nice creamy head. Good blend of caramel and sweeter malts balance out light toffee and chocolate.

Pours dark dark brown with a thin head. Aroma of roasted malt with citrusy hops in the background. Nice mouth feel, flavor seems subdued.

Dark reddish brown body was clear and porter-ish , and the head very small and fleeting. The smell was that of powdered cocoa, roasted and burnt grains, and faint grassy hops. The taste was as anticipated, with chocolate, weak coffee, dark skinned fruits, brown sugar, and roasted cracked grains. Mouthfeel was medium-thin, and the aftertaste was slightly sticky. A decent porter released for the season where it is appropriate.

This one pours a dark, ruby brown color with a small, off-white head that lingers. It has a nice malty aroma of caramel with a good hoppy background to it. Medium body with medium carbonation, the flavor is mostly malty and finishes with touch of caramel and spices. A very good and quite enjoyable winter ale.

Sampled at a 2005 Christmas and Winter beer tasting at Delilah’s, Chicago, IL. 2003 vintage. Clear amber hued ale having a small diminishing head. No discernable carbonation. Sweet malt and toffee aroma. Medium bodied that starts with a spicy, chocolately, light toasty candy malt flavor, similar to chocolate-coated malt balls. Finishes dry with light malt aftertaste. This is a good drinkable beer, just like drinking liquid candy.

draft - Crystal clear deep brown color with smallish tan head that dissipates fairly quickly. Aroma has notes of hazelnut, oak, vanilla, lightly toasted caramel. Flavor is woody and dry, with touch of roastyness and faint dark caramel and vanilla, hints of cinnamon and anise. Finish is firmly bitter. This is decent, nothing overwhelming.

It poured a ruby brown color with a tan head. The aroma was of dark roast malt, light vanilla and some coffee. The taste was dark toffee sweetness, light coffee and some vanilla again with a burnt woody flavor in the finish.
