This unique seasonal beer offers the warmth of an old English pub to help ward off the chill of a winter’s night. It has its origins in British neighborhood pubs where villagers would gather to shake off the damp cold of the bitter English winter. They’d share a pint or two of winter warmer ale by the fire, catch up on local gossip, and stay inside, where it was warm. We’ve brewed our version in the tradition of those winter ales, with a robust, full-bodied flavor and a tangy hint of spices.

Not too bad at all. Not sure quite what an "English Strong Ale" is-almost sort of to a Porter but not quite? Most of the way there on the malts but not quite. Tasty, sessionable. Ok.

This winter ale poured a deep brown body that turned amber in the light. Decent carbonation with a small head that disappeared rapidly. The aroma was unusual, kinda like burnt barley. Thankfully the taste was better than the smell with caramel malts, some coffee notes and even some chocolate hints. Overall this was more like a porter than an ESA but it was fairly decent. Draft at Kasey’s Tavern. Non deScript aroma with a bit of caramel malts. Tastes like sweet caramel malt, toasted almonds, faint herbal hops. Pretty basic.

Poured from 12oz brown bottle into a snifter glass. Dark reddish amber with off-white foam, lasting with lace. Reeks of too much Victory malt, diacetyl, nutty astringency. Not good, kinda bland, kinda off. Chose not to drink it all.

Annee pour from draft at Nisie lounge. White head. A little warm. Carmel, earthy, malts. Decent but wouldn't get it again.

Chestnut brown pour with aroma of chocolate, dark fruit, and toffee. Toffee, dark fruit flavor with some cinnamon, clove, and chocolate. Overall, a decent beer.

on tap at Dog & Bull in Croydon - a winter warmer that tastes closer to a porter. Not the usual cinnamon and clove flavors of a typical winter warmer. Super dark reddish color.

A mild winter ale. The spice is understated, a little bit of cinnamon and nutmeg, but mostly just Bready malts.

16 oz tap. This tastes more like an IPA than anything. Bitter, fairly one-note. Not sure where the winter ale comes from.

Bottle @ a charity event. Deep amber pour with a small off-white head. Nice nose. Muted chocolate and a bit of caramel. Mellow spice, some red fruit, raisin. Similar flavor. Balanced chocolate, toffee and a some toasty malt richness. Slightly dry spiciness on the finish. Medium body, active carb. Enjoyable.

Pours a dark mahogany color with a good tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, bit of dark fruit and spice. Taste of roasted malt, dark fruit with trace of spice and citrus. Decent bitterness and a clean finish. Medium body, smooth with a bit od a warming feel. Nice beer for the cover time of the year.
