2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
When I saw the label "Hop Hound", I thought this would be a hoppy beer. Since its a wheat beer though it’s actually on the sweeter side. A darker amber color, or medium brown. Reminded me a bit like Honey Brown, but not as sweet. There is a little bit of a bitter aftertaste, but nothing like an ale or some of the "hoppier" beers. I liked it as part of the new flavors Anheuser is pumping out, but for a buck or two extra a six-pack I can find better in this style. It was worth the try though for sure.

The worst of both worlds really. Looks okay, but has the watery palate of a bad wheat and the bland, mild, non discript, carboardy caramel character of an amber.

Before I drank this one I did’t know that it was from A/B. The name made me think that I was getting ready to enjoy some strong hop-flavored wheat brew. I was wrong. The smell was a turn off from the beginning, not skunky but not pleasing at all. The flavor was washed out and pale. The hops seemed like an afterthought. Taste like it might have been good before they watered it down. Pass.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
From a very old set of notes. All my notes say is "Smells worse than it tastes. Tastes like some hops ate a banana puked themselves up then ate themselves again." That must have been from the end of the night...

355 mL bottle. Amber, with a thick ring of head. Some wheat in the aroma, and some mild citrus hops. Not much going on in the flavour, though. Sweet. Thin body.

Had a beer festival, thank goodness. If something is called Hop hound, it should have some hops right?

1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 1/20
Insults both pale ales and wheat beers. But it looks drinkable, at least, a nice orange-amber with an honest-to-god head for a few moments. Then you taste it, and you feel a cold, bony hand wrap itself around your heart, and your tongue retreats down your throat in horror, not stopping until it finds the safety of your small intestine. Tastes like banana chunks floating in a pool of spoiled club soda. And whatever hops the Hound is flaunting are nowhere to be found. (3/10/09)

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Reviewed from notes.
Pours a moderate golden color with a thin white head and not much lacing. Smell actually brings forward a small amount of hops alongside some doughy notes. Taste brings moderate bitterness and some bread flavors. Mouthfeel is light to moderate in body. Drinks okay and is fairly decent.

Rather strange for a wheat ale to have caramel creeping into the flavor, but unique and a decent ale.
