3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 TheAlum (4289) - Lisle, Illinois, USA - APR 3, 2010
Sampled on tap at the brewery (Indianapolis, IN). Pours a nice solid amber, some lighter edges, a good whitish head that dies to a film, laces ok. Aromas are a touch of funky hops, grass and citrus pair with a light spice, a caramel and pale malt base, just ebough, with a touch of stinkiness, english type malts, a touch of metal, and a bit stale. Initial is lighter side of medium bodied, grainy malts, pale with bread and a touch of toffee, grassy and slightly spicy hops, a bit stinky. Sweet malts, decent hopping, but sadly a bit forgettable. And I generally really look forward to this style. Finish is malty, almost a touch of buttery bread or butterscotch, and light hopping. Ok.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 patrick767 (3169) - fort wayne, Indiana, USA - JAN 9, 2010
tap at the brewery - Pours lightly hazy copper with an off-white head. The aroma is mainly caramel malt. I didn’t get much in the way of aromatic hops. The flavor has plenty of bittering hops. The hops profile has the earthiness similar to the previous Sun King brews I tasted, but more intense of course. It’s medium bodied and could use more malt character.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 thedm (4773) - Fort Wayne, USA - SEP 21, 2009
This draft brew from the brewery poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a transparent uncarbonated orange brown colored body. The mild aroma was malty. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The nice crisp flavor contained notes of malt and bitter hops. A quaff-able decent brew just nothing special.
