Draft sample at IBGF Summer09.
Poured clear golden color with an average fizzy white head that was mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate earthy hop and malty aroma. Medium body and smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium bitter flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration.
Good start.

UPDATED: AUG 20, 2009 On tap at Old Town Ale House. Pours dark rusty copper with a thin white head. The nose has some well done biscuits with dark honey character. The flavor has loads of earthy hops. Strong bitterness. Medium body with a lingering dry finish. You can tell that its very fresh.

On tap at MacNiven’s. Small tight head that quickly disippated. Clear golden color, darker and more substantial than a lager but not amber. Scent of American hops, mostly Cascade. First sip is bitter, flavorful American ale with a balanced finish. Like a pale ale but with more sweetness to balance the flavors. Hops flavor is piney with some earthiness. Altogether a very enjoyable beer, flavorful and bitter. Went great with the steak pie.
For comparison, my next beer was Stone Levitation. A good beer, mind you, but citric and thin compared to the Osiris, not balanced.
Is this beer going to be in bottles soon?

IBGF 2009: I was looking forward to trying a new brewery and had high hopes, sadly after drinking this ESB I passed on attempting any others of the Sun King beers this day. Perhaps one day I will stop by and get them a second chance... Golden hue with an okay head and lace. The aroma has notes of clean bittering hops, Maris Otter and 2-Row malt and a hint of dusty yeast esters. The taste is slightly bitter and grainy with little else going on, while not bad it hardly made me want to take another sip. The mouth feel is soft and thin-bodied.Maybe it would be better on a handpull (which you can say about most ESB’s anyway). Disappointing.
