Draught at Hops and Pie. Nice hoppy IPA. Total pine and grapefruit. Favorite Sun King to date.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Block (1045) - Indianapolis, Indiana, USA - SEP 7, 2012
A nice IPA with a hint of fruit. The fruit isn’t too overbearing and definitely lets the hops and malts roll. A nice alternative IPA.

Poured on tap from a cask. Citrusy with light hops. Grapefruit does not dominate. Taste was slightly sour with a bittersweet finish.
4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20 kylevester (11) - - MAY 21, 2012
I love this beer. Big grapefruit flavor comes from a ton of Simcoe, Amarillo, and Cascade hops.
Has a medium-light body with a healthy dose of hop bitterness and great hop flavor.
The imperial version is even better.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Nephilium (1164) - Ohio, USA - MAR 29, 2012
Starts with a lovely grapefruit aroma that sadly fades quickly. Poured into a goblet it is a clear amber with a quickly fading white head that leaves good lacing on the glass. Clean bitter flavor with a long finish. Lighter on the palate then I was expecting. Overall a nice solid IPA.

In a growler, straight from the brewery. Great hop opening with a wonderful citrus and sweet finish, the grapefruit is subtle but defines the beer. Pretty lacing and a golden orange body. Its only seasonal and on draught at the brewery but if you come across this, give it a whirl.

16 oz can, courtesy stfun. This one pours a glowing sunset orange color and topped by a small, smooth head of off white foam that slowly settles to a thin film and leaving sudsy spots of lace around the glass. Thousands of bubbles quickly move up the glass giving it a lively appearance. The aroma is very west coat in nature showing big, juicy grapefruit and orange citrus up front followed by a toasted caramel malt base to add some sweetness to back up all the hop bitterness. The flavor follows suit, but not quite as bright as nose suggests with the juicy orange and bitter grapefruit up front along with notes of resinous pine. Toasted caramel and biscuit malts provide the balancing counterpart, but everything still tends toward to the bitter side from all the hops. The palate is substantial with some residual sugars adding heft to go with moderate carbonation that leads to a lengthy, bitter finish. This one doesn’t quite get as dry as some of the better west coast examples, but it is a really tasty brew and enjoyable to drink. Really good stuff. This brewery continues to impress.

Tasted on 2/10/12 from a 16oz can given to me by Matt Leff, big thanks. Pours clear, bright orange with an average white head that slowly recedes to thin lacing with a nice collar. The nose is dominated by pine resin and (you guessed it) grapefruit peel hops, with just a hint of caramel malt. The flavor is intensely bitter citrus peel (especially grapefruit), and a ton of pine resin hops, with just enough of a caramel malt backbone to keep it from being one dimensional. The body is medium and sticky with just lighter than average carbonation and a long bitter hops finish.
1.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20 vw73182 (13) - Fishers, Indiana, USA - JAN 30, 2012
Served from cask into shaker glass.
Very cloudy appearance with about a half finger frothy head that did dissipate. Little to no smell on the nose besides a hint metallic sharpness. Mouth feel was very flat no carbonation detected at all and also no body very water. The taste was awful front of the tongue to back the only flavor was a metallic cringe. This was not enjoyable to drink at all.
