3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap in Bloomington (IN)
This is a respectable sweet stout. A style that I do not often see from Sun King is one that they can definitely work on. While a fine sessionable tap it does have some weaknesses around the edges. Even so it is worth sampling if the prices is right.
Aroma / Appearance - A murky black base retains an ochre head. Coffee, chocolate, and oatmeal drive a sweet profile that is expected for the style.
Flavor / Palate - Raspberries and malt begin with a nice first impression. Next comes coffee, plums, and more middle of the road flavors that you’d expect from a well planned sweet stout. This is worth the experience once to make the decision if it is a fallback beer or not. Personally I would pass but only because they do so many nicer session IPAs.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark brown with a light tan head.
Chocolate, coffee malt aroma.
Taste is light, creamy....nutty, chocolate and coffee...oatmeal.
Very mild, almost a little too weak, especially as a stout,
But pretty tasty.
