The beer is just a hoppy red ale and somewhat of an experiment. The malt, is the same as the British Style Red Ale we had on tap a couple of months ago. Changing the yeast and dramatically increasing the hop rate produced a very different end result. Since both ales were very popular with our customers, I am planning to brew them again. Maybe twice a year. (So many beers, so little time!!)

Sampled at the brewpub. Deep amber color with an offwhite head. Spicy and malty aromas. Good bitterness and balance with spice, malt and caramel flavors.

(On draught at Sun Up). Pours a clear deep amber with a thin light tan head. Aroma has citrus, pine and resin. Taste is sweetish with bitterness. Medium bodied with an oily texture. Biter finish. Decent, easy-drinking beer.

This was poured up via cask along with Amarillo dry hopping at the brewpub. It has a copper – brown body and firm tan head. The aroma is kind of soft but gives you a nice load of spicy hops and earthy hops as well as a background of sweet malts. The taste has a very pleasing mix of spicy hops and citrus hop flavor that roll quickly into resiny hop bitteriness. Beneath the hops are malts and some caramel like malts too. Dig it.

Draft at the brewpub. Nice bronzed red color with a standing head. Delivers a sharp bite up front but settles into a mellow maltiness. Good. (#4087, from notes Jan 2011)

On tap; poured a copper/red color with an off white head. Aroma of caramel, red malt, toasted malt, fruit, spice/earth, and a dash of pine. Flavor was quite enjoyable. Caramel, pine, earth; primarily.

On tap at the brewery. Amber red color with a sticky head. Lots of roasty caramel malt and a nice dose of grapefruity hops. A fantastic amber!

On tap at The Den. Pours a dark shade of amber with a trim off-white head that leaves a fair amount of lacing. Smells predominantly of grapefruity hops. Tastes of dry hops, caramel, mild citrus, and biscuity malt. Not bad.

On cask at Papago. Pours a clear reddish brown with a one finger creamy off-white head that leaves nice lacing. The nose is caramel, citrus and pine. The taste is grassy hops, light grain, caramel malt, light resin and some tart citrus in the finish. Medium creamy mouthfeel due to the cask. Really good Amber.

On cask and dry hopped @ Sun Up. Pours a nice copper with a bubbly white head. Aroma was fresh hops, caramel, grass, pine, malt. Flavor is fresh hops, caramel, malt. Light bodied but very flavorful. It’s not fair to even compare the dry hopped cask offering to the regular but this was very enjoyable.

On tap @ the brewery. Crimson colored brew with a 1/2 inch eggshell head that left a decent amount of lacing. Caramel malt, abundant hops, and a little nuttiness. Medium mouthfeel...highly drinkable with ample carbonation. Decent.
