Nice old fashioned beer, well balanced. Bittersweet, more hoppy than most beers of this style. Lovely dark ruby, rich maltiness. Great beer with food, and can cope with an aquavit as well. Fruity finish, raisins.

Shared 500 ml swingtop bottle, as Sundbytunet ByBayer, at Mandag i Annen, Cardinal. ABV is 4.7%. Reddish brown colour, moderate off-white head. Moderate aroma, hints of malts and caramel. Malty flavour, not very sweet, notes of caramel and brown bread. Pleasant to drink.

ElDesmadre (1361) - Mikołów, POLAND - FEB 25, 2013
Bottle traded with Cunningham. Toasted bread, licorice and nuts in the aroma, with hints of minty hops. Caramel seems to be absent in this one, and it’s not to be missed. Light to moderate body, light flavour, light bitterness. Some caramel in the finish finally, with notes of bread crust. Unobtrusive Franconian style dunkel. I would imagine this being served as a table beer in a mountain hostel. You down one together with your goulash and get back on the trail.

OleR (4597) - Oslo, NORWAY - FEB 7, 2013
Enjoyed from a 0.5L bottle. Thanks Frank! Clear ruby brown. A finger of dense off-white foam on top. Crisp nutty malt aroma. A whiff of licorice, and tones of biscuits and minty hops. Lightly roasted, medium full malt body. Toasted and light nutty. Refined sweetness. Clean, light resinous bitterness. Smooth in the mouth. Another highly drinkable "low" abv beer from Sundbytunet. Bottle, shared by OleR and the brewer. It pours a clear, dark brown body under a small, dense, off-white head of moderate size. Nice lacings. The aroma is lighlty roasted and bready, with hints of nuts, liqorice and pine cones. The flavor has a nice bitterness, as well as bready malts, roasted hints and a little bit of nuts and some licorice. Medium to full body, pleasant carbonation. Lasting bitterness in the end. A really pleasand dunkel, sure on of the best found in Norway. 121201

50cl bottle shared by Arve_Christian. Pours slightly hazy dark amber with an off-white head. Malty aroma with some roasty notes, light caramel and some hops and spices. Light to medium sweet with a bready flavour and a quite dry and pleasantly bitter finish. Easy to drink and quite refreshing.

0,5 l swingtop bottle from a trade with Cunningham. Pours a delicious red/mahogany color with a solid creamy off-white head. Aroma of dark light roasty caramel, weak hops. Taste is smooth, nutty moderate sweet malts, good balanced, with a light dry bitter end, lingering light sweet caramel as well.Almost full bodied, soft carbonation. Tasty and moreish. Well done.

Cunningham (4011) - Halden, NORWAY - NOV 12, 2012
Dark and subtle red colour with a fine tan head. Leaves a fine lacing. Moderate sweet caramel and light hoppy aroma. Medium body. Balanced sweetness and a fine bitter finnish. Solig balanced caramel flavour with some fruity notes and a bitter ending.
