On tap at the brewery as "Bø Øl". Same beer as Juleøl but stored a bit longer. Muddy deep orange body with a dense light brown head. Spicy bread and toasted tobacco on the nose. Toasted, mellow veggie bitter and a tad acetic. Medium bodied and smooth to drink. Light doughy texture and sour tones in the finish.

500 ml swingtop bottle (leftover from Cardinal’s juleøl tasting). Vintage 2013. ABV is 4.7%. Deep brown colour, moderate to low off-white head. Malty aroma, strong notes of brown bread, also some caramel. Flavour more like a brown ale than a dunkel, mildly roasty, nutty and bready notes, some caramel but not too sweet. Decent enough for its strength.

Shared bottle at Cardinal. Pours reddish brown, small pinkish head. Aroma is fruity malts. Thin watery mouthfeel. Taste is mild malty, short and rather anonymous.

Dark brown / pale amber. Thin to medium mouthfeel. Hints of juniper. Aftertaste of hops. Refreshing, although more bitter than a traditional Yule Beer.

Bottle from Ølhandleriet Mathallen, enjoyed on expiry date june 21st 2013. Muddy amber body, huge staying beige head. Aroma of toast, caramel and clove. A fruity element in the taste reminds me of the bubble gum "Juicy-Fruity" we chewed when I was a kid, in addition to caramel, faint licorice and nuts. Goof bitterness, semifruity and malty finish.

0.5 L bottle, by courtesy of Frank the brewer. A ring of tiny beige bubbles, upun a shiny reddish brown body. Dark caramel, mild roast and a fine apple-fruitiness on the nose. Smooth and quite full. Light sparkling carbonation. Good malt body. Delicate sweet and caramelly. Bread and nut tones. Distinct peppery bitterness. Complex and balanced. Top end "Norwegian grocery store" beer. [01.12.12 @yngwie’s]

500ml swing top bottle, as Sundbytunet Juleøl 2012, at Øltorget, Mathallen Oslo. Shared with the barman. Bubbly off-white head resting over a body in an unclear, dark amber colour. Spotty lacing down the glassware. Fine aroma of raisin and bitter anise. Blended Yuletide flavour of nuts, dried fruits and toffee leading to a smooth bitter fruity finish. Medium bodied. Surely one of the best Norwegian Christmas beers below 4.75 % this season (Oslo, 11.12.2012).
