Notes from sep-09. 500 ml bottle. Strong malty and grainy aroma with floral hops. Fresh. Golden body white head. Sweet malty taste, but has some citrus like crispyness. Easy to drink, not much aftertaste, but hey, I’m here to drink.

In the bottle from Beertopia. Pours bright yellow with a thick creamy white head that remains throughout the beer. In fact, I think the head retention is a huge feature to this beer. Smooth and easy to drink, this does not have the harsh palate burn that I find in most Kolsch beers. I fact, it might be the best of this style I’ve ever had.

Bottle from Ledger’s Liquor. Pours pale gold with a 3 finger foamy white head. Aroma of citrus with a little grass. Near medium body with rather creamy carbonation. Flavor is a mix of citrus and grass over pale malt. It’s very tasty for a kolsch. Not lacking in flavor. Matches a good pils, but with more breadiness and citrus.

Tap at the Saucer San Antonio. Clear light gold color. Very little head response. Smells of bitter grain, similar to a Czech pilsener. Flavors of bitter hops, slight butter and metallic notes are present. Finishes just a tad bit dry and tingly bitter.

Bottled 50cl. Side-by-side tasting: Sünner, Küppers and Sester Kölsch. Extremely pale appearance. Musty, refreshing, highly drinkable. Old socks, burnt match- and charcoal components showing up in both nose and taste. Fruity with apple being most present. Light bodied, crisp. Gooseberry sneaking in. A bit too sweet for my liking- residual sugars in the finish.

Poured straw blond with pillowyish head. Nose is kind of funky slightly citric. Body is thinnish. In the mouth it gives off a few fruity flavours though not too memorable in the finish. Nice easy drinking and a change to other euro lagers.

Bottle. Pours pale golden with tiny white head. Citrus and grassy hop notes. Flavour is citrus and grass. Fizzy on the palate with a short bitter finish. I’m sure it would have to be much fresher from the tap.
