Brewed in the long-brewing tradition Sünner after the German Purity Law of 1516. Spicy, aromatic taste, refreshing and wholesome. A product Kölscher real life.

Bottle. A really nice looking beer when poured into a Gaffel bottle. This version says 5.3% abv and I think it’s now available in the USA. Flavor is slightly sour and nicely hopped with a nice breadiness to balance it out. A bit thin bodied but pretty good.

500ml bottle. 3-09. Clean bright gold body, medium foamy white head that discipates quite quickly. Cereal and bready malt, touch of vanilla, some herbal/grassy citrus hops. Light bodied, moderate carbonation, drying texture, seems well attentuated. Particularly grainy bread malt body, subtle herbal and citrus hop character, possibly yeast-derivedsome banana and vanilla...but I can’t be too sure. Still not a style of beer i’m sure about, a very easy going quaffing golden ale regardless.

Bottled. A yellow gold coloured lager with no head. The aroma is floral and sweet grassy. The taste is the same as the nose. Too sweet and grassy for my liking. Bottled kölschs clearly aren’t my thing.

0.5 l bottle shared with friend who brought it from Köln, huge thanks Toni for picking the new style for me! Poured golden body with medium sized white head. Aroma of some lemon or grass hops with some malty notes and some spices which only distinguish them from some typical lagers. Flavor is fuller however, sweetish and a bit fruity, but pretty hoppy as well. Those lemons are still one of the most prominent flavors here, besides some spices like vanilla or banana and other esters. Nice. Medium-long, sweetish finish. Quite good...if this is are macro crap, how does the craft beer tastes like!

UPDATED: SEP 14, 2008 Bottle from Arden Wines. Beeswaxy pale malt, lemon, soft leather, grain and fizz aroma. Gently nutty with hints of lemon, rubber and vanilla. Some distinctly germanic herbal/grassy hop character in there. Cleansing pilsy bitterness to finish. Clean, soft and tasty.

Bottle. Bright gold with a small head. Aromas are grain with lots of metal. Floral with some citrus. Flavours are sweet grain with floral, soapy notes. Metallic on the finish. Not the best.

At the trinkgut in Kerpen Germany, golden, medium head, grassy fore a kölsch, nice bitter, some grain and sweeds, not a regular one.

To me it was a little yeasty on the nose, partner said it was very floral. Lovely almost golden body, very clear with good white head. Finish was long, dry but not as crisp as my last beer. Subtle fruit character, neither malt nor hops standing out.

Clear golden and poured without a head. Nothing really outstanding about it but still quite pleasant. Love the style but this is not one to recommend.

Bottle at the Priory Arms, 9th July 2008. Gold, highly carbonated, with a persistent line of white head. Slightly corny aroma but sweet and fruity on the tongue. Smooth palate, average weight. OK but not great.
