4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
This is the real deal, a perfect Kölsch. Bright golden color, thick white head, great foam retention, that true Kölsch aroma, full dry taste. For those of you who have never been to the city of Cologne, this is their beer style and Sünner still uses open fermenters to produce a fantastic beer. Do not rate this beer if you are unfamiliar with the style! This beer style is very unique and its nuances take a long time to discern. That wonderful Kölsch aroma from their proprietary yeast strain is unbeatable. A very delicate beer which deserves more recognition outside of Germany.

Mediocre beer. Golden color with a thin composition. Heavy carbonation and fizz but pours very smoothly into a pint glass. Sour aroma and taste.

(Sünner Kölsch) Green bottle, 500 ml, served into a kolsch glass at home, ABV 4.8%
Bright golden yellow colour on the body, small and thin white head, with okay retention, leaving light lacing on the glass.
Fresh aroma, grassy, light malts, weeds, citrus-y notes.
Taste also of grass, light citrus/lemon, straw on a field, some metal notes on the finish, good bitterness.
Medium thin body, high carbonation.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Can’t believe I haven’t rated this before. But I started after my days of living in the EIFEL and chugging koelsch. Like all true koelsch, this is true to style, light yet effervescent and flavorful. Who could ever drink Bud Light over a true classic like this? (#5867, 11/22/2014)

Cask @ Sünner im Walfisch. Almost clear light golen with a small white head and some lacing. Aroma is super fresh wirth herbal presences, cereals and light citrusy notes. Taste is also super fresh with grass, cereals, citrus and light spiciness. Light to medium body. Moderate carbonation. Fluffy mouthfeel. Dry finish. My 2nd favorite Kölsch in Colgone behing the great Päffgen Kölsch.

On tap. Clear yellow with small head. Grainy and fruity, the alcohol is slightly perceptible. Palate is a little sticky. Not a clean Kölsch but no major flaws.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 10/20
This is not a stand out kolsch, but it is still a well executed beer. It doesn’t have a particularly distinctive taste, or a quality which sets it apart: lacking the smoothness of Fruh, or the dryness of Reissdorf - but it does it’s job, and is refreshing and crisp.
