3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Gravicask (PBF2015, Friday)
Recent ratings shock me - let this traditional lager hater step in and spread a little lager love. Lovely fruity estery aroma, citrus and peach. Full smooth palate. Really bready taste. I can’t believe this is a lager, so full and rich, and so estery too. Not a pilsner, that’s for sure. Finish had lovely peppery hops though. Enjoyed.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask at The Roebuck, Leek (Titanic) A clear golden colour with a thin white head. Aroma of grain, straw, slight lemon, pee and grassy hops. Taste of grain, straw, lemon, German lager hops and grass. Light bodied and a slightly oily texture. A brambley finish with some citrus bitterness. Like a flat lager, quite tasteless and bland. Drinkable for a first pint though.

GBBF Day 4. Cask. The great Harrisoni/madmitch76 walkabout. Lightly hazy gold beer, small white head. Palate is pretty flat for a Pils. Light clean malts. Light hops. Briefly minty but also a little citrus. Light flat finish. A mild vinegar sourness runs throughout. Another brewer falls at the mighty walls of cask pilsner!
