COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Freisian Pilsener
A modern take on a rare Pils variant. Historically having a bitter hop bite, this Friesian takes it one step further and builds on the German Spalt hops clean bitterness by adding a citrusy-pepper bite from the NZ Pacific Jade. Lagered (cold conditioned) for three whole weeks and finished off by running it for 24 hours through Australian Citra hops in our Sierra Nevada style hop torpedo. Available in 9-gallon casks. Malt: Low Colour Pale & Lager Malt Hops: Spalt Select, Pacific Jade & Citra

Cask at the Garden Gate NW3. Curious one this, pilsener on cask? I didn’t like it. Flabby, sweaty malt, no bite to the hops. Carbonation felt too low for the style. Too warm. Bland. Dunno if this was just a bad pint as other reviews seem to have liked it.

Tap at the Old Royal, Birmingham. Poured a hazy light straw colour with a frothy white head. The aroma is weak malts. The flavour is weak bitter with a lovely rich thick grassy spicy pepper plate. A really super ale I have to say.

Reminded me of the best of Faith No More. The cover that is. Creamy pilsner style. War Pigs.

Cask conditioned handpump Feathers London 05/07/13. A blonde beer with a white head and lace. A zesty lemony beer with a fizzy spritzy taste. Zesty hops in nose. There may be coriander in this? Decent but ehat appears to be spicing is a little annoying.

Cask at the Railway Inn, Birmingham. Somewhat nondescript, but equally quite quaffable. Mouthfeel and balance are fine, I prefer more big flavour.

Clear dark yellow body, wisp of white head dissipates to ringed head sharpish. Simple lemony biscuit head, softly sweet. Cooling mouthfeel. Clean Pilsnerish slalom of malt, spritely fresh middle and faintest cloying biscuit finish. No sharks jumped in the making of this beer.

Cask, Nation Off Shopkeepers, Leeds

Cask by handpump at Drum & Monkey, Glasgow - clear yellow, thin creamy off-white head, no detectable aroma, excellent lacing, pale malty, vegetable, easy to drink, balanced

Cask@the bell, walsall. Golden beer with a small head and good lacing. Aroma of faint floral notes. Taste may have been a little off and had some tartness to the citrus lemon and floral notes. Not for me.

Tasted this in Tennents Bar, Glasgow in June 2013. Cask, handpump dispense. Crystal clear pale gold in colour with a thin white head. Just a hint of dusty hop flowers in the short aroma. Thin, slightly resiny mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts gives a weak lager base with a thin body and poor flavour complex. Dry hopped in the aftertaste with a slight metallic tang and cereal notes evident. Finish is rather weak for a 5%? Hop resins present in the mouth with a dry dusty wheaty note. A poor Pilsner this and not a patch on Harviestoun Schiehallion for a quick comparison. Expected rather more from this 5% and was quickly disappointed.
