Freisian Pilsener
A modern take on a rare Pils variant. Historically having a bitter hop bite, this Friesian takes it one step further and builds on the German Spalt hops clean bitterness by adding a citrusy-pepper bite from the NZ Pacific Jade. Lagered (cold conditioned) for three whole weeks and finished off by running it for 24 hours through Australian Citra hops in our Sierra Nevada style hop torpedo. Available in 9-gallon casks. Malt: Low Colour Pale & Lager Malt Hops: Spalt Select, Pacific Jade & Citra

GBBF Day 4. Cask. The great Harrisoni/madmitch76 walkabout. Lightly hazy gold beer, small white head. Palate is pretty flat for a Pils. Light clean malts. Light hops. Briefly minty but also a little citrus. Light flat finish. A mild vinegar sourness runs throughout. Another brewer falls at the mighty walls of cask pilsner!

At GBBF 2014. Clear gold lasting white head. Terrible aroma. Almost made me vomit. Bottom of barrel horrible.

Cask at the Euston Tap - London. Poura perfectly clear yellow with a super tight, white cream head. Nose of straw, grass and biacuity pale malts. Light to medium sweet flavor with lots of white bread, hay, some dry cereal grains. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Koderately sweet finish, some husky grains, hay, dry white bread. Very simple pils but decent altogether.

Cask conditioned at The Market Porter, Borough Market, London. Yellow gold with white head. Light, slightly watery, grainy, malty beer, thin on the palate, no real shark bite to this unfortunately. Fairly average.

Cask conditioned handpump Feathers London 05/07/13. A blonde beer with a white head and lace. A zesty lemony beer with a fizzy spritzy taste. Zesty hops in nose. There may be coriander in this? Decent but ehat appears to be spicing is a little annoying.

Cask at GBBF ’14, day 5, 16/08/14. Clear golden with moderate off white edgework. Nose carries astringent bitter notes, spice, lightly burnt vegetables, citric tones, straw. Taste comprises bready notes, light spice, citric peel. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close. A little muddled, pretty mediocre but just about drinkable.

Sampled @ GBBF. Clear yellow color, small white head. Smells bad, puke, plants and cardboard. Taste isn’t much better either, though fortunately the puke isn’t there. Crappy one.

Small creamy offwhite head. Clear pale yellow body. Light floral peas aroma with sugary notes. Sweet earthy peas taste with strawy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft, flat mouthfeel. Dryish earthy peas aftertaste with strawy herbal notes. Quite nice, but a bit sweet and earthy, and somewhat slack. (0.284l cask at The Punch Bowl, York. Pump clip says 4.4%.)

August 25, 2013 - hand-pull cask at The Mudlark. Hazy light gold with a small frothy white head. Aroma - sour and wort-y, grassy, light alcohol; Tate follows, sourness is more like light sour mash, light and very interesting, what I thought was off is, I think, deliberate and very refreshing. Light, soft and chewy mouthfeel, ephemeral airy carbonation, quick sort of dry lightly acidic finish, no aftertaste at all. Damn, I really dug this one.
