3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 fredthecat (278) - CANADA - JUN 17, 2013
looks between yellow and golden with minimal head. smells slightly of noble hops, clean, light malt. taste is a very clean, light maltiness and honey taste but generally balanced towards neutrality/slight bitterness. some herbal, spicy hops. it’s got a nice full body. faultless and a good beer, too bad they charge way too much for it

Pours gold. Foaming with head. Aroma of straw, and bitter malts. Taste has a good bite, sweet grainy flavor and good bitterness. The sweet grassiness and a bit of alcohol are no bueno, nor is the gummy sweet finnish. This beers only saving grace is its bitterness.

Canned, thanks to larsniclas. Somewhat pale yellow beer with a small white head. Malty glue aroma, bready, sweetish, some hay. Malty bready flavor, watery, some rather bad strange bitterness. Harsh bitter finish with fruits and bread.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 GoufCustom (237) - HONG KONG - APR 2, 2013
330ml can; Explosive two-finger head with lasting crumpet-like white foam; Small lacing with notable carbonation. Good aroma of malt, bread and slightly herbal hops; Minimally sweet taste of malt, with bread, citrus and grassy hops; Medium body, oily palate; Taste profile is decent bready malt with very notable citrus and grass throughout, in a orangy background somewhat vaguely resemble a Pale Ale. Interesting! Sweetness is very, very low, a good feature; Hoppiness is pretty strong for a premium lager, very citreous and increasingly bitter through not that astringent, finishing is a bit numbing but not unpleasant. Quite dry after taste, easy to mouth.
Comments: I finally got the chance to try out a brand which is readily available in HK. As a full-malt beer (expensive by Japanese standards), this one is a very solid premium lager - good aroma, no skunky cat-piss malt, very nice head and frothy, expressive hops which contribute a Pale Ale-like palate with mild but penetrating bitterness. A rare feats for Japanese macros, and put many global macros to shame. The slightly expensive import price is justified. Recommended.
2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DylansDad (204) - NEW ZEALAND - APR 1, 2013
Smooth and sweet malts, then a touch of bitterness. Clean and crisp while still effervescent but flattens quickly, and there is a jarring taste of alcohol heat at the finish. Drinkable but not something I’d ask for again.

Not bad, within the context of Japanese lagers for the masses. No aroma, but nice, crisp and bitter. Justifiably a pilsener, as the label says.
