Coyet Ale jatkaa Suomenlinnassa harjoitettua pintahiivaoluiden traditiota. Coyetin aikakaudella kaikki oluet olivat pintahiivaoluita, aleja.

Draft (at Suomenlinnan). Head is mostly diminishing. Body is light amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, apricot), lightly to moderately yeasty (dough). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Wasn’t a big fan of this one, partly due to the yeasty nose and partly because of the acidity. May have just been getting towards the end of a keg, dunno. Ok, but not in the same league as the others for me. But evens so, look at the ratio here...of 6 or 7 beers, this was the only one I wouldn’t have eagerly ordered more of. At most brewpubs, the reverse is true (heck, I’m lucky to find even ONE that I like in most places!).

Taster at the brewpub, 10 euros. Nice clear orange gold pour, mild herbal aroma. Bitter pine, rough grolsch like mid-mouth, clean finish. Ok, I get a kind of very bery subtle cheese vibe in the aroma/taste... Odd but pleasant. It would probably pair well with cheese.

Rather basic and bland for a bitter with a mild hop finish and medium bitterness. Grassy and a bit of a light citrus fruit. But overall, not too much going on here.

Bottle. Clear amber beer with a medium offwhite head. Malty, rasins and plums aroma. The aroma brings me memories from a finnish easter dessert called memma, it´s a kind of hate-love realtion to me, it´s a very sweetish dessert that I always had when I was a child at easter. Too sweet but anyway loved... Malty and dark fruits flavour.

Draft at Suomenlinnan Panimo.
Lightly hazed amber with a small white head that quickly settles. Fruity orange, honey / agave, amber malt nose, clean throughout. Medium-light body, honey syrup malt is succulent, it’s enticingly hoppy with a lot of EKG-like spice, a lot of orange juiciness and a wee bit of pine sap. Quenching body, clean fermentation, all flavors in balance, all flavors expressive, very sessionable.

Enjoyable bitter, could have had more body and a bit more hops, still refreshing and decent beer.
