3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
Taster at the brewpub, 10 euros. 5.6% a very dark brown with a reddish tinge at the edges. Nice rich chocolate aroma with some kind of spice note, possibly cinnamon. Great mouthfeel, smooth as silk. Chocolate at first and some roast coffee in the finish. Excellent stuff for just 5.6%, again not complex but just an extremely well made porter. My fav so far.

Svart öl med fast brunt skum av små bubblor. Doft: Malt, humle, lätt bränt socker, skogs jord. Lite svag i doften. Smak: Lakrits, humle, jäst, jord, rostade toner.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A dark black body with a little brown foam. Nose has notes of liquorice, dark bread and spices. Taste is thick, malty sweet and with a minisqule dryness in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel is soft and full.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draught (at Suomenlinnan).
Head is mostly lasting.
Body is dark brown to black.
Aroma is moderately malty (chocolate, roasted grain), lightly hoppy (flowers), with notes of black olives (NOT vinegar/salt brine, but the meaty olive itself), berries, vanilla.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
From the very first sample at the brewpub, I knew we would be here awhile...these beers are brewed with great attention to detail. Clean, nuanced, and enticing.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Given the high prices in Finland I was expecting something great. This is a reasonably solid porter. I don’t regret ordering the taster but at 3.40 Euros it was not exactly a bargain. Still, given the circumstances and other options at the brewpub this was the best.
Aroma / Appearance - The fluid black base was consistent from top to bottom. A creamy beige head decorate the top like a handful of wet sand from the beach. Candy store licorice, malt, and bittersweet chocolate were held together by a smoky coffee glue.
Flavor / Palate - Licorice, malt balls, and plain coffee form a decent impression. Nothing builds over time though - the first sip is the same as the last. The creamy finish is like drinking a cup of cheap coffee mixed with a cup of milk creamer. You could do worse in Finland than this.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Dark brown to black beer with some head. Mostly aromas and flavors of roasted malts but also very unpleasant aroma of manure. Not a very long finish. I may have had this too cold but I don’t really want to try it again.

Bottle from Tbone, thanks! Bottle. Black, opague. Malt, roast and coffee in the aroma. Hint of ash. Malty sweetish, roasty flavor with hints of licorice and coffee. Caramel. Fairly complex, tasty porter.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Not a bad beer. Nice black and opaque pour with a bit of a beige head. The nose is mildly roasted and a heavy roasty cocoa note. Mild roasted malt flavour, espresso and sweet malts throughout. Overall, just a good easy to drink porter.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at Suomenlinnan Panimo.
Deep brown body with a dense but short-lived tan head. Rich unsweetened chocolate and cocoa powder. Creamy and frothy carbonation with a soft, dry malt texture. Quenching acid, salivating and quenching. Light mustiness and some sourish and acidic burnt grains in the finish but it’s very enjoyable and suits the beers dryness and body.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Such a nice product, such a nice surprise. Very tasty beer - a lot of nice tastes - coffee, chocolate etc. For a porter it is extremely light, not so much roasted and this product is not at all watery. The full palate goes through to last drop, which is a slight miracle talking about porters. Defenitely the best porter I ever had. This comes close to best german dobbelbock darks. I really wait the brewerys next step - will it be a nice dobbelbock winterbeer. I enjoyed this beer in brewerys own pub in Suomenlinna from tap.
