Helsinki Portteri on väriltään musta, hyvävaahtoinen pintahiivaolut. Tuoksultaan olut on paahtunut ja maultaan kevyehkö ja hieman lakritsainen. Portteri on vanha perinteinen Lontoosta 1700-luvulta peräisin oleva oluttyyppi. Suomalaiset portterit ovat saaneet vaikutteita myös Venäjälle keisarin hoviin Britanniasta rahdatuista juomista: kestääkseen pitkän merimatkan ne ovat hieman vahvempia kuin perinteiset brittiportterit.

Draught at Villi Wäinö, shared with Matti. The body is almost black as pitch with just a ring of bubbles to the rim. Aroma is aniseed and malty. Dark malts with mid-tart fruits to the taste buds added by liquorice. Finish off with a roasted bitter touch. Medium bodied. Tasty (Helsinki, 06.02.2011).

3fourths (9136) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUN 14, 2013
Draft at Suomenlinnan Panimo.
Deep brown body with a dense but short-lived tan head. Rich unsweetened chocolate and cocoa powder. Creamy and frothy carbonation with a soft, dry malt texture. Quenching acid, salivating and quenching. Light mustiness and some sourish and acidic burnt grains in the finish but it’s very enjoyable and suits the beers dryness and body.

DruncanVeasey (8012) - NUNEATON, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - MAR 1, 2011
Draught, Villi Wäinö, Helsinki. Black with a beige rim. Complex aroma unfolding with beef stock, smoked oak, burnt plastic, nuts, Marmite and grilled red pepper as it warms. Way too fizzy and cold for a porter; good apple and bramble, chocolate, smoked nuts, leaf matter, red pepper. Much as I love ’em sometimes it’s a relief to encounter a dark beer with no brazen US hops.
