Höpken Pils on pils-tyyppinen lagerolut, joka on väriltään vaaleankeltainen. Vaahto on kauniin valkoinen ja maku kevyt ja kuiva. Vahvasta humaloinnista on aikaansaatu voimakas kitalaen peittävä katkeruus ja hyvin pehmeä jälkimaku. Klassikkoesikuvansa mukaisesti Höpken Pils on valmistettu parhaasta pilsner-maltaasta ja tsekkiläisistä Saaz-humaloista.

Golden yellow looks with delicate smallish head on top. Aroma has grassy hops, slight honey malt notes. Taste has some butter, crisp hop flavors, citrus and grass. Light and easy-to-drink with crispy mouth feel. Not an excellent pils but a good one.

Nyt oli kyllä jumalattoman paha. Jäi juomatta. Lentokentän baarista trappistien jälkeen jopa pahaa kuseksi.

Bottle. Pours a hale orange with a large, frothy, white head. Aroma is straw and grass. Taste is a decent amount of pale malts and grain a well as straw. Quite a lot of grass. A refreshing, dry grass finish. Light and refreshing, not watery.

500ml bottle, clear sparkling yellow colour, moderate somewhat persistent rocky head, decent lacing. Aroma of light bready malts and bisquit with moderate floral hops with a note herbs. Taste is initially light sweet and moderately bitter with a longinsh moderately bitter finish with an astringent feel. Dry mouthfeel, light to medium body, lively carbonation. A very decent pils, not really any surprises aside for that it actually easily matches and even surpasses many of it’s Central European equivalents.

Classic star gold color, white head. Hoppy hay aroma, nice mouthfeel, clean crisp bitter taste. A solid well made pilsner.

UPDATED: JUL 28, 2013 Pale lager like clear orange beer with a quickly dissolving head leaving lacing on the glass. The aroma is strongly malty but not in a grainy clean way. It’s almost sour and unpleasant. Thereâ’s also some hay and vegetable kind of aromas as well. The taste is mostly just the unclean maltiness with some crisp bitterness on the medium long finish. Leaves a floury yeasty feel to the mouth. Highly carbonated and thin body.

Bottle and draught (at Suomenlinnan). Head is mostly lasting. Body is medium to dark yellow. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie), moderately hoppy (herbs, flowers), with a note of pepper. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Having been in Franconia for three weeks prior, this had big shoes to fill. But I’ll be damned if it wasn’t up to the task. Bright, fresh, balanced, clean, and ridiculously quaffable...it’s hard to ask more of a pilsner. And 4.2% abv??? Seriously? Fantastic.
