15 worthy beers competed at the famed Martens Brewery for the honor to be exported to the US. The last, 15th entry came out the winner. Super Brew 15 was selected for its exquisite equilibrium of taste, the result of a harmonious combination of specific beer components and special double fermentation process. This unique beer, known in the Anglo-Saxon world since the eleventh century as Barley Wine, has been prized by true connoisseurs for the past millennium. Comes in a glass bottle 0.5 L (16.9 FL OZ), 20 btl/cs.

Shared 16.9 oz. bottle. Been avoiding this one for quite some time; I guess itís time to face the music. Pours a hazy medium amber with a small, short-lived and listless off-white head. Aroma is brown sugar, caramel, syrup, and acetone. Taste is super-sweet and malty. Very cloying. Brown sugar, syrup, and caramel. More acetone with perhaps a little rubbing alcohol. Low carbonation. Cloying, alcohol-laden finish. I gagged on the 4th or 5th small sip; that calls for an automatic sub-one rating in my book. Drain pour.

Husband wanted Romania tick...thatís all I have to say. Aroma: incredibly sugary sweet with some malt underneath; Appearance: dark amber; the flattest beer Iíve ever seen; Taste: burnt brown sugar with boozy backlash; strangely sour notes that make no sense; stomach already hurting; Palate: trying to swallow so quickly that I canít determine; long, sweet finish; Overall: Ugh. Definite drain pour.

Bottle pour split with Andrew, and what a beer this is. Had to drink this because of the Mís loss on opening day. The aroma stars off ok, and then you take a sip, malty carmal and a very sweet taste.

What the hell am I drinking. I have had this bottle for years, looking for a reason of punishment for opening it. Tcon and I decided that if the Mariners couldnít win on opening day, to continue their opening day dominance, than we have to pick a bottle that we would likely regret. Dusted this off. Iím sure I originally got this for the Romania tick. Some good coming out of this. Copper orange pour with no head. This has to be some sort of weird beer style that Iíve never had. Aroma is a weird, brown sugar, caramel spice infused malt. Flavor is an overly sweet, watered down malt liquor. Pretty dominant brown sugar element, but watery and boozy both. Ick.

Picked a bottle of this up for the Romania tick, so weíll see how it goes. Pours a hazy brownish color with very little head on there. Nose is yeasty and bready, and smells like something Iím about to put in the oven. Taste is sour and just a little bit fruity, which makes it really weird. Cannot handle this one.

Aroma is sweet wine or juice. Which makes the bready flavor absolutely shocking. At least it doesnít have the alcohol burn present in most 15% beers. Not horrible, but wouldnít want to drink an entire bottle again.

Not sure how this qualifies as a barleywine. Iím a lot more inclined to call it a strong malt liquor. Oh well, ,,,Romania!!

And guys, get a marketing copywriter who speaks English.

This had a rich g0lden/br0nze b0dy with a fizzy head that IMMEDIATELY turned int0 a film, then a stray bubble 0r tw0. It smelled 0f sweet caramel, alc0h0l, and a dr0p 0r tw0 0f perfume. The flav0r dr0pped the perfume and was sweet and full 0f alc0h0l. The malt flav0r wasnít really s0 bad, and if they hadnít pushed the fermentati0n, this w0uld be a l0t m0re drinkable.

Alcohol is heavy in this, as would be expected by the 15% ABV, but it totally dominates the aroma and taste, sickly sweet malt and paint thinner hide in the background. Nasty
