Golden blonde color with a champagne spritz. Bursting, compact, short lived head. Slack lace work. Floral aroma with soft butterscotch accents and candy sugar. Typical Belgian yeast flavor, with a touch of citrus. Hops give a champagne dryness. Spritzy mouthfeel and finish.

Pillowy white head that slowly melts to the flavorful brew. Moderate lacing. Very nice spicy aroma with a hint of oranges. Smooth tasteful brew with a mild flavor. Slight sense of hops with a non-overpowering complexity. Excellent finish with a crisp aftertaste. Very drinkable. Alcohol is hidden.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Ernest (5627) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - SEP 20, 2002
Head is initially huge, frothy, rocky, white, mostly lasting. Body is
hazy medium yellow, dense tiny particles, bottle conditioned. Aroma is
moderately hoppy (flowers, citrus - lemon), moderately malty (cookie,
toasted light bread), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with notes of coriander,
orange, clove, pineapple, honey, pepper. Flavor is moderately sweet,
lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Finish is moderately bitter, lightly
acidic. Medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation, lightly
astringent. Whoa, mama...this is a find! Wonderful fresh/bright/lively
aroma complete with spices, fruits, and flowers, with a surprisingly
assertive malt character...superb flavor balance...nearly undetectable
alcohol (until you stand up)...sexy appearance and great mouthfeel. This
has it all. A new entry among my favorite Belgian blonde ales.
Stunning.

UPDATED: JUL 24, 2011 2011-01-29, corked bottle, bb 20 09 02, vintage 2001, 9 years old, 6-4-6-3-12=31 Beautiful golden color; creamy head. The aroma shows signs of age. The body structure is good, the flavor is quite sweet, smooth, with some stale signs of age. It doesn’t feel like 10 years old, but still it’s going downhill.
2002-08-01, 8-5-8-4-16=41 Gold colour, giant rocky head, a real Belgian lace. Strong hop aroma, old flowers, a little spicy. Good body, elegant waves of sweetness and dryness, malt and hop, coriander. Dry and bitter finish, with good dry hop.
