(Bottle 25 cl) Dark, reddish brown with a tall, pretty head. Appears filtered whic is rather unusual. Very aromatic and spicy. Mainly dry with a weak underlying malty sweetness. Slightly perfumy - coriander? - with a discreet, bitter finish. Very harmonious beer. 090702

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
(Bottled) Quite clear, very dark, reddish brown color with a small, lasting, tanned head. Very sweet, syrupy-sugary rye-pudding aroma. Cloying sweet, syrupy-malty, raisiny flavor. Medium-bodied, sweet palate with foamy, medium carbonation. A basic bruin spoiled with excess sweetness.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Just poured this one out, unfortunately no trappist glass. This thing pours out with a massive full head lasting several minutes. Very nice clear mahogany color. Smells incredible like a faint rochefort 6, apple and spice. Taste is excellent a beautiful brown with hints of apple and excellent spices. Pretty well balanced. Comparative to a trappist.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(750ml bottle) Courtesy of the Montreal connection, TiggMTL. Pours a lofty beige, cloudy-creamed head upon a dense, deep-brownish body. Nose of Super des Yeasts, roasted malts, figs and porto. The flavour is very hospitable - dancing cloves, meaty figs, raisins. Mildly carbonation texture. Delectible...

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: APR 3, 2005 Sweet grainy malt in the nutty aroma with some grape-like notes. Opaque black body is topped by a generous and lasting, fine-bubbled, tan head that laces wonderfully. Grapey flavour with sweet malts, haylike hops and an overall yeasty character. Medium-light body is very dry and almost puckering. Bottle (Bieropholie - Feb. 2005, Best Before 19/01/06) enjoyed with MartinT, muzzlehatch and Rastacouere.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
New England Road Trip Easter ’05 with MartinT, tiggmtl and Rastacouere, beer #73. 750 ml bottle shared in our hotel room. Ruby-brown, lasting wisps of head, massive lacing...sweet, slightly nutty and yeasty nose...dark malts with touches of coffee in the body, bready, light fruitiness late in the palate. Just ok, really, though an interesting take on the style.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Superb off-white head, foamy lacing covers the glass sides. Lightly hazy bronze hue. A bit grainy nose, not quite as expressing as I’d hoped with bits of chocolate chunk notes as well as herbal mellowed hops and unlively yeast. Woody palate, earthy and highly floral. Now this feels a bit more farmhouse like. The bready yeast feels a bit dirty though. Fruity esters abund as it warms (grapes, blackbierries), yet it finishes very dry. Clean beer, medium body, strong carbonation. Not bad.
