Dark brown; slim brown head, some lace. Nose as of soaked-up rainwater, roasted malt, tinge of chocolate. Some brown sugar, and probably a bit diacetyl, as I'm getting something buttery. Sweet taste, bit nutty. Nothing else. Medium-bodied, fizzy. Malts fill in the mouthfeel, sugar thins it, taste is empty. Boring as hell. Bottled - so the beer is more than probably from Du Bocq. It fits.

Tasty, sweet (but not overly so) and a pleasure in the mouth. Discovered this one lately and am enjoying it immensely. The 7.5% alc is not overbearing. I'd call it a tasty everyday winter brew.

Darker head than the Blonde, less intense aroma, more malt in the mouth, not as impressed but still a good beer

A good bruin. Dark brown colour with good head. Sweet, malty and spicy. Medium bodied.

A nice dubbel. Malty and sweet. Quite sparkling mouthfeel. Dry and hoppiness nicely combined with the sweet malts.

Ungstrup (28458) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - MAR 24, 2003
An unclear orange-brown beer with a great head. The aroma is stong, sweet, alcoholic with notes of anise, orange and other spices. The flavor is boring after the powerful aroma, it is slightly smoked, with a good maltblend and extremely sweet with very little hops to balance it off - though it has a dryness of wood and moss.

Spicy aroma. Dark brown colour. Brown head. Malt and spicy flavour. Also little sweet.

Muddy-brown in colour. This brune lacks depth - there are no chocolate/coffee flavours. Has a good trappist-like mouthfeel, but that doesn't quite redeem this (other) dull but OK, Fagnes beer.

ARMed (590) - Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 27, 2002
Nice solid frothy brownish head with rather small bubbles. Aroma is citrusy with a spicy wisp. It is a moderate clear brown brew with a very nice appearance. At first glance the beer is very appealling but the beer has a flowing decadancy that begins with the first sip. Tart and tangy with a moderate bitterness that is too overbearing and unsuspecting. Flavor is strongly acidic with a powerful aftertaste. Not nearly as appealing as the blond.

Ernest (6031) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - SEP 23, 2002
Head is initially huge, frothy, rocky, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy dark orange-brown, dense tiny particles, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (cookie, caramel), lightly hoppy (flowers, herbs), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with notes of coriander, tangerine, licorice, clove, and brown sugar. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Finish is moderately bitter, moderately acidic. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. I don’t like the acidity in this context too much, but oh, what an aroma!
