Caramel and metal aroma. Luckily no metal flavour. Rather sweet. Bit of an alcohol burn.

1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
After having one or two other beers from Super de Fagnes, I didn’t really had any hopes into this one. In fact, I was scared. And mainly for the right reasons. It turned out, after an evening of only bad beers (except one from Maisel & Friends), that this will be the last turn-down. It has got quite a nice look: Deep dark ruby-brown colour, steady creamy head and medium to smooth body. Nose of sweet dark brown bread and brown sugar. Taste of sweet malt, raisins and caramel. I once drank a very bad Russian Kvass and this beer came very close to it. So awful sticky caramel-sweet with dull and dusty hints of cellar and basement. I’m very happy that this evening is more or less over - it can only get better.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
25/III/13 - 33cl bottle from Comptoir des Fagnes (Couvin, BE) @ home - BB: 19/IX/14 (2013-267)
Clear red brown beer, irregular beige head, unstable, little adhesive. Aroma: lots of caramel, sugar, cola-like, lemony touch, very artificial. MF: ok carbon, light to medium body. Taste: bit sugary, some caramel, little bitter, spices if not much. Aftertaste: sugar, bitter hops, some liquorish, very watery overall, bit metallic too. Crappy and probably cheaply produced beer. Not a fan.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Slightly astringent finish on this brune, leaves sour taste on palate. Wine/cola aroma, dark but clear brown, with airy head that leaves lots of lacing on the glass. Taste...prune juice? The sweetness sets this one apart from the pack of Belgian brunes....
