1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20 rudolf (2229) - Buffalo, New York, USA - FEB 15, 2010
Pours straw gold w a thin white head. Nose is light hay malt, faint canned corn and not much else. Flavor is a bit of sour malt, definite canned corn/vegetal dms isssues. A little apple/acedylhide too. Not horrible but certainly not a standout. Reasonable body
1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 Elwood (1834) - Between a rock and a hard place, Virginia, USA - JAN 29, 2010
Serving: 12 oz. bottle.
Pale gold color with a foamy white head a la all of the other Mexican beers. Slightly grainy nose, but for the most part rather vague. The flavor was grainy too, but not as offesive as some of it’s peers. Clean, watery finish. Overall relatively refreshing under the hot Mexican sun.
2.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 coldbrewky (1115) - Saugerties, New York, USA - SEP 18, 2009
Bottle: Man-O-Man these Mexican Lagers are about as similar as a roomfull of Chinese tea merchants., but far less annoying. Consumed at Mezcalito’s, Cozumel. Pale yellow, light body with a bit more than a hint of malt and easy drinking. Salty finish, or maybe that was the sea spray on the bottle...
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 wimpie133 (380) - Brugge, BELGIUM - AUG 17, 2009
Bottle, a golden coloured beer with bubbles ans a medium white head, lacing and lasting (rather exceptional for a Meixan beer). There is a light grainy and malty smell, sharp in the nose. Not superb, but OK. The taste goes to the direction of a Belgian pale lager with a beautiful full grainy taste. Also refreshing but little to no finish on it. The best pale lager I drunk in Mexico!
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 bubbleflubber (1203) - Asheville, North Carolina, USA - JUL 25, 2009
In Playa Del Carmen, this one pours transparent gold with a initial wispy head that diminishes to a thin ring, leaving light soap lace. The nose is slightly sour, but almost nonexistent. This has its share of corn "macro" notes to the tongue, has a dry finish, and leaves a seltzery palate with a watery body and lively carbonation levels. That’s about it, there’s just nothing to it, honestly. Nothing of real substance on which to speak.
2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 piscator34 (1580) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - JAN 21, 2009
Bottled sample tasted while on holiday in Mexico. Pale yellow in colour with strong carbonation. Faint aromatic notes of pilsner malt, and minerals. Lightweight in the mouth, with more pilsner malt, and a suggestion of earthy hop flavor. Not a great pale lager by any means, but probably the best Mexican one that I’ve tried.
1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20 rugbydude05 (452) - Bridgewater, New Jersey, New Jersey, USA - JAN 1, 2009
12 oz bottle, new years eve drink in mexico. Color is very pale, very little head. Aroma is actually quite pleasant with a fresh sweet floral scent. Taste is pretty nondescript; some bitterness present, minimal sweetness. Palate was rough and no body at all, even for a pale lager. Better than sol/corona, drink this when its really hot to get the best experience
