COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Shaka, the original Hawaiian sign of good feelings, has this American Extra Pale Ale featuring up front floral and citrusy hops layered on top of a lightly toasty malt profile. This brew is a single hop showcase and changes a few times a year. The light body makes it easy to drink a few Shakas without feeling too full, keeping you ready for the next set. Pairs with roasted chicken and a fresh garden salad. 11.5°P 40 IBU 5 SRM

Bottle from KegNBottle (NC): Liquid was a clear golden bronze with a thick development of foamy head. Aroma has a bold whiff of caramelized malts that suggest notes of freshly ground barley malts along with bread. The drink is rather bland and doesn’t deliver as much malt flavor as my nose was able to pick up, but a tiny bite of bitter hops do become more apparent which was not evidenced in the aroma. Nothing extra about this XPA, but something about this beer reminds me so much of Rogue Ales which again is a compliment.

The beer is a clear golden color with a white head. Bread and biscuit malt aromas along with some floral hops and a hint of grass. Really simple nose, not too much going on. The flavor is lightly sweet with bread and biscuit notes. It’s also lightly hoppy. Just a bit of floral, grass, and citrus peel notes. Very mild pine bitterness on the finish.

I must say I was not expecting the big corn flavor with a nice bitterness. That being said, this did not grow on me either. Too much cereal notes in this yellow hued beer.

Clear amber color/ ivory head. Nice tropical fruit, pine aromas. medium bodied with average co2. Hoppy bitter pine, grapefruit flavors in a solid pale malt base brew, nicely bitter drying finish--good pale
