COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sure we’re abrasive. We were abrasive long before we were Surly. If you visit the brewery you can still see remnants of the industrial manufacturing factory Omar’s parents ran for 35 years within those same 4 walls. Bandsaw blades, grinding wheels, and sanding discs came long before ales and lagers. But let’s be honest, this is a lot more fun. Pale in color, this over-hopped, under-brewed Double IPA has almost twice the amount of hops & malt crammed in the can. Seasonal between March and April.

Can at RBSG. Pours amber with an off white head. Citric and floral hops with light pale malty notes. The flavor was citric hops, flowery notes, and a light sweetness. Nice.

Can courtesy of DalzAle. Big time thanks. Poured a deep, slightly dark orange with a small whispy white head. The aromas on this one jumped from the glass. Pine, pine pine, resinous hops for days. Hints of caramel malt crept in and out. Just about blasted with lightly sweet big piney hops, you can feel the oils on your tongue. Surly struck a wonderful balance here. Just enough malt to check the big hops without being sweet. In the same tier as Double Trouble, Hopslam etc....

Pours light golden brown with just the slightest head. Smells of awesome sweet caramel malts, fresh grapefruit, pine, mango as well as orange. Wow wonderful tasting fresh oranges, grapefruit, pine, and the grains and the malt are in your face. The mouthfeel is a thick and wonderful. Finish is long and bitter but not pungent. Thank you Surly!

Pours a dark copper color with a bright white head which never really leaves the beer. Smells of tremendously sweet citrusy hops, copious amounts of pine in the nose, thick caramel malts, and honey. Sweet grapes, oranges, and mangoes come through on the palate with the caramel malts being very thick and chewy. As the beer finishes it turns lip smacking, mouth puckering bitter.

Can at a tasting. Copper amber pour, light off-white head. Citrus, caramel malt, sharp bitterness, grapefruit, lightly sweet fruit, and slightly metallic. A nice, strong hop bitter, IIPA. I would buy this if it was availible in my area.

A - Pours a clear orange copper color with a bing finger of forthy white head. The head fades down slowly to a think ring and layer leaving behind some nice lacing in the process. S - Aroma is full of citrus hops with lots of grapefruit and tropical fruits. Also some floral hops in the background. Touch of malt in the background. T - Starts off with lot of citrus hop flavor and bitterness. There is also some supporting light caramel malts around. Through the middle, some stronger bitterness and some piney hop flavor jumps out. Also some light apricot and other fruits. The finish is a mix of piney and citrus hop with a lot of bitterness that lingers really nicely. M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Really smooth and crisp and the bitterness is really quite strong and leaves a really nice dry feeling in the mouth. D - Very drinkable. The hop profile here is really amazing. The flavors are really well balanced, especially the hop and malt balance here. This is a great beer.

Medium sized offwhite head, good retention and a nice, lasting lace, droopy. Hazy amber copper hued ale. Massive nose is hop driven, DUH, big and piney, resiny and juicey with some burnt wiring, freakin awsome ! big chewy body, resiny and oily with a solid carbonation, prickly and keepin things lively. Monster hop flavors follow suit with pine grapefruit and some tropical notes, nicely fruity and super juicey, mouthwatering. Lightly sweet malts keeping those fekkin hops somewhat balanced out but its definately an uphill battle.Lucious finish is capped off with a large bitterness that alot of DIPAs just dont have. This is very nice, very nice. Could drink this regularly. Props to my friend motortoddhead for the 16 oz. can. Been wanting to try this for awhile now. Sweet bro, thanks!
