COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sure weíre abrasive. We were abrasive long before we were Surly. If you visit the brewery you can still see remnants of the industrial manufacturing factory Omarís parents ran for 35 years within those same 4 walls. Bandsaw blades, grinding wheels, and sanding discs came long before ales and lagers. But letís be honest, this is a lot more fun. Pale in color, this over-hopped, under-brewed Double IPA has almost twice the amount of hops & malt crammed in the can. Seasonal between March and April.

Strangely not as good as Furious in my opinion. Abrasive seemed like a higher-alcohol and less-head version of Furious. Donít get me wrong; it was very good. But it didnít have the hops explosion I was expecting, especially for the price. Iíll stick with Furious.

The can has a cool cartoon. Hops abound in the nose, strong and piney. On the pour, a murky light yellow appreance with frothy head that dissapates quickly. I like the palate, with a slightly sticky mouthfeel and a light bite on the backside balanced with a mild sweetness. Itís crisp without being overbearing.

2011 backlog. Fresh can from Skyview Ė thanks Bob. Pours slightly hazy dark gold with a one finger white head. The nose is mango, tangerine and ripe orange. The taste is caramel, fresh citrus, and a nice resin finish that lingers. Nice medium semi-creamy mouth feel. Great DIPA. 4.3

Poured from a can dated 1/7/2014. Aroma - Can smell the aroma as soon as the can is popped - truly amazing. Tons of tropical aroma - perfect. Appearance - golden clear color, lots of carbonation coming up. Half finger of white head that disappears quickly. Taste - Amazing. One of my favorite beers. My only wish is that it was year round rather than seasonal. Palate - Flavor in the front and back of the tongue. Overall - definitely one of my favorite beers around. Glad it is local.

The nose gives huge amounts of orangey malt with a touch of grapefruit. The color is light amber and hazy with bubbles and ínummiesí aka sediment. Medium sweetness leads while the stealthy bitterness attacks like a grapefruit pith ninja in the mid palate, The body is deceptively full. The ascorbic character disguises the boozy weight of this ale until you have had a few mouthfuls. Plenty of bubbles keep the sediment moving around the glass. The finish is medium length and kind of clean. Overall this is a great beer, if not a little pricey. Itís limited release window and distribution radius make it a much sought after beer. Definitely worth a try if you can get your hands on one.

Rcvd in trade. Two cans. This was poured into a pint glass and a snifter. There was barely any difference between the two glasses. The appearance was a nice looking hazy orange to brown color with a decent one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. Once the head died down, the lacing wove around the glass in a nice speckled sort of fashion. The smell had a nice blend of sweet citrus to sweet sharp freshly cut pine and it came through in a strong aromatic way allowing a decent sweet maltiness to come out as it warmed. The taste took all of those previously mentioned flavors and added a nice sweet maltiness coating my taste buds. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was there. The normal harshness of an AIPA was there assaulting my tongue very good. Overall, what a great beer all around. Well worthy of having again.
