4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 bsp77 (724) - Minnesota, USA - NOV 2, 2009
Poured from can into Nonic Imperial Pint.
Very dark ruby-brown with an inch thick tan head that very slowly recedes, leaving fine lacing down the glass.
Aroma of sweet caramel, citrus hops, some roasted malts.
Slightly sweet caramel, roasted malts, oats, slight coffee and chocolate, and a very nice citrus hop counterbalance. Finishes on a moderate bitter note.
Low carbonation, rich medium body, dry body. Very smooth for such a low abv beer.
At 5.1% abv, this is the ideal year round session beer in Minnesota. It is also the best Brown Ale (whether English, American, India or hybrid) that I have had.

At a tasting, thanks David, small thick head, dark reddish colour with light brownish taints, aromas of tobacco and hints of grassy hops, flavours of nuts, oats and a touch of fruit and soap, strong hoppy bitterness which fades rather quickly and a light sweetness in the back. Strange beer.

Thanks to MatSciGuy. Pour is deep dark brown with a medium light brown head. Aroma is roasted caramel malt, light chocolate, light coffee, earthy, and brown sugar. Flavor is crisp cookie malt with a a nice balance of sweetness and roasty bitterness. Notes off coffee and vanilla linger. Very easy to drink fuller bodied beer.
