(16oz can) clear, medium brown with creamy and lasting tan head. Nose of caramel, sweet, nice honey and hops mixture, oats, cream, mild funkiness. Taste of cocoa, oats and nice creaminess, bit nutty, lightly earthy and crisp from the hops. Body is a bit thin but makes up for it in creaminess. Nice brown ale!!

If you don’t like this beer, you can BITE MY SHINY METAL ASS! Does anybody make Futurama references anymore? Anyway, clear brown, no head. Bready, spicy aroma, and what I’d call typical brown ale flavors - chocolatey, bready, and lightly spicy rye-ish note at the finish.

On tap at Hop Leaf. This dark brown ale poured with a thin beige head and a chocolate aroma. There is a sour, but pleasant, smooth chocolate and roasted malt flavor and a bit of carbonation.

Can from IrishBoy (thanks!) - dark amber with a tan head - roasty, nutty aroma, with hints of wood and vanilla - smooth, creamy mouthfeel, with a medium body, nicely bittered, with a slight bit of roasty/smokey notes to compiment it - well-intergrated flavors of hazelnut and vanilla - slight herbal/spice qualities - very well balanced - I would love to have regular access to this.

A: The pour is a light brown color with a finger’s worth of slightly off-white foam.
S: The nose is sweet and malty with some nice nut, bread, and roasted malt notes.
T: The flavor is quite similar to the nose offering up some toasty, bready malts. There is a nice sweet caramel malt flavor as well, which is nicely balanced by a touch of bitterness on the finish.
M: A medium bodied beer with a pleasant creaminess on the tongue.
D: Another solid beer from Surly. One of the better brown ales I’ve had the chance to try as it balances the sweetness and nuttiness quite well.
