Can courtesy of cas. Pours a dark brown cola color with reddish highlights and a tone finger tan head that settles quickly. Aroma is roasted and malty with notes of chocolate, toffee, caramel, malt, brown sugar and hints of molasses and coffee. Flavor is also roasted and malty with notes of brown sugar, molasses, chocolate, coffee, ripe dark fruit and hints of nuts. Generally medium body with a pleasing roasted malt finish.

On tap at Sheffields in Chicago. Pours a deep brown with a small creamy off white head. The aroma has cocoa powder, toasted malts, very nutty sharpness to it, and quite a bit of hoppiness, very fresh and earthy hops. Flavor is even hoppier than originally expected. Starting malty, roasted nuts, caramel, cocoa beans and a little cocoa powder. Then getting a big dose of hops, almost to the point of finishing like a black IPA, really sharp bitterness that blends with all the malts. Medium full body. Pretty good brown ale, though it seems to deviate from the traditional style with the assertive hoppiness.

Can. I’ve had this more times than I can remember, and I finally get around to rating today! Dark brown pour, a little carbonation and a roasty caramel aroma. Flavor is malt, caramel and some chocolate on finish. Solid beer, but I like the coffee version better.

Thanks to chewy08rx for sending me this can.
The beer pours a sightly hazy brown color with a tan head. The aroma is a mix of chocolate, caramel caramel and some toasted/lightly roasted malt. The flavor is more of the same. I get a lot of chocolate as well as some roasted malt and some light grassy hops. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A very nice American Brown Ale and one I wish I had regular access to.

Thanks to Tharreld for the can!! It pours brownish red with an orangy/tan head. It has a faintly dusty, toasted aroma with hints of caramel, berries, and brown sugar. The flavor is toasted malt, oatmeal, and some berryish hop astringency. Notes of nuts and cocoa as well. It has a very hoppy, bitter finish. Overall, an above average brown ale.
