drewbeerme (1716), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 15, 2008 on cask at the maproom. pours hazy light amber with soapy white head. aroma of grapefruit, pine, and slightly chemical. flavors is refreshing, grapefruit, citrus, pine, not much malt profile here, watery, medium bitterness coming in on the backend. pretty nice PNW ESB.
KeithD (189), Outer Space, Congo Jul 22, 2008 Aroma of orange marmalade and hoppy dryness. Flavor is good, really dry and bitter, with some jammy apricot qualities. I feel that it really lacks substance and body, however, so I don’t think this one is particularly for me. I like their IPAs and stouts a lot more. Not much else to say. There is a pentegram on the back of the can. maniac4016 (90), sky ute, Illinois, USA Jul 22, 2008 apricot, resin on nose. bitter on palate with some pineapple resiny stickyness. finishes a liitle disjointed but thats the only problem i find with this beer. very quaffable Odeed (1438), Bakersfield, California, USA Jul 21, 2008 (big thanks to irishboy for the free can)orange body with an awesome foamy white head.the aroma is just as described in the commercial description.peach, orange, and apricot aroma.all from the hops im guessing.the flavor has the same traits sitting in the back with some biscuits and caramel malts taking the front seat.this is an awesome bitter and i can see why it gets the high rating. Gregis (861), Overland Park, Kansas, USA Jul 17, 2008 Can courtesy of theisti. Pours a hazy, pale copper with a pitted off-white head. The nose is fruity and floral with notes of dried apricots, lemon iced tea and grassy wildflowers. Fairly light bodied and slick with a moderately dry and bitter finish. Very quaffable. Light caramel malt sits behind a blend of fruity, floral and herbal hops. This is definitely not your typical ESB, as the hops dominate the flavor profile, but it remains eminently drinkable and pretty darn tasty. Thanks again for the can, Tim! pint_size (1001), Austin, Texas, USA Jul 16, 2008 7-13-08 bottle shared with lb4lb thanks to pepsican
Medium amber orange with a thin white head and some light lacing. Smell is big hops and dough. Flavor is hoppy but not fruity or floral or too terribly refreshing. Medium to high carbonation. Drinkable and hoppy just not very crisp or springy like I hoped. Big honey flavors linger.
