3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 devilben02 (250) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - SEP 11, 2012This beer pours with a warm, light orange-amber color and a big, fluffy, sticky head. The aroma provides a nice balance of sweet caramel malt and some light herbal hops. The flavor likewise blends fruity, sweet malts with a bright yet somehow musty combination of hops, and the light effervescence further lightens the flavor profile. Overall, this beer , has a nice earthy quality, but it is at the same time light, bright, sweet, and quite drinkable.

Tap @ Grumpys NE. Pours a hazy bright orange appearance with an off white head. Soft citrusy, grapefruit, creamy, lightly sweet malty aroma. A bit light but very easy drinking, mild citrusy, a bit fruity, herbal, soft flavor. Easy drinking session ale.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 b3shine (2465) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUN 16, 2013
16 oz can to half-pint glass (shared with the Mrs.; thanks mikem409). Looks good for the style; a hazy orange with thin white head that quickly dissipates into razor-thin lacing. Smells solid; doughy and hoppy with a fairly sweet backbone. Tastes like it smells with some more discernible fruit hops and a solid mouthfeel. A solid example of the style.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 camborne (341) - Hopkins, Minnesota, USA - JUN 9, 2013
Bread and slight citrus nose. flavor was really mellow compared to most surly beers I have tasted. Really malty with some hops undertones. Bread and light sweet fruitiness mostly. Not really that bitter.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Phatdog1 (127) - Brentwood, New Hampshire, USA - JUN 9, 2013
1 pint can compliments of ZMDR1975. Hazy orange pour into a perfect pint glass. Nose of bread, earth and some sort of distant spice. Weaker than I would have hoped for on the palate, hardly any carbonation. Flavor of sour dough bread, some floral hops, and herbs. A bit of the bittering hops linger at the finish with a tea-like flavor hovering around. All around, quite average, but pretty drinkable.

Can. Hazy amber orange, with t Arjun white head. Earthy, bready, doughy, and slight caramel aromas. Dry, nicely bitter, doughy and earthy. A well-balanced but interesting ESB. Bit thin in the body, but overall solid.

From a 16 oz can shared at home. Pours a clear gold with a thick white head. Mild hop aroma. Flavors of biscuit. A bit thin. OK, but not great.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 mnmike (701) - Minnesota, USA - MAY 29, 2013
Not my favorite Surly brew. Tried this one on tap at Republic Uptown. Biting bitters but without the pleasant aromas that other beers have.

Aroma is light pine, oats, caramel, and English malt. Taste is oat, caramel, English malt, and a nice light piney hop character. Very nice light drinker, lots of flavor for the low abv. Another great surly brew!
