4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma of piney root beer and citrus. Dark reddish brown with fading tan head. Taste is bitter, resiny, with some slight alcohol. Slight maltiness which I canít explain, but very nice. Palate is fairly thin for a 10% beer, but goes great with the style.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Can: April 24th 2016: Aroma is heavy from spruce, raw licorice, orange peels and piney hops. Taste is massive, with strong roasted notes, raw grapefruit rind, pine oil. The bitterness that kicks in is truly impressive, really harsh and strong. This is one of the best Black IPAís Iíve ever had, but take my warning, I do really like exaggerated brews so if youíre into a more settled and soft approach while you listen to Nickelback, choose something else.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Can with massive thanks to Scott. Pours a very thick looking motor oil black with a cream colored head. Aromas of chocolate, coffee and spruce with maybe a hint of lemon and mint. Flavor is very solid... lots of that chocolate malt presence, a brash pine presence and a citrusy/minty finish. (Iím not completely sold on ímint,í but that seems to be what Iím getting here. I canít think of any other beers that werenít advertised as "mint" beers that I have got that flavor on, though...) Damned good stuff, but that kind of goes to figure, right?

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark, minimal head, perfectly balanced toasty malt and hop. One of the better black IPAs I've had.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
"Blackened is the end" - Metallica. Surly, what is this unholy concoction thou hast wrought? It pours black with a rich head that stays till the bitter end. And the end IS bitter, just as it is in the beginning. It starts with roasted malt bitterness. Tobacco, coffee, smoky wood, bitter chocolate. Then it changes into hop briskness. Zesty, leafy, woodsy (again, but different) and resinous. 999 is the new heretical number. Should you choose to drink of this wicked brew, you can abandon any hopes of peacefully shuffling off this mortal coil. Instead, itíll be burned away, and you too will be blackened.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a almost black body with a huge light beige head which leaves lots of lacing. Aroma consists of well balanced portion of citrus, roasted malt, coffee and herbs. Taste starts with a short milky sweetness, then transforms into great pine and dark chocolate bitterness. The finishing is long and toasty and the mouthfeel is oily.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
16 oz can to pint. Dark brown pour with 3 finger beige head. Very roasty smell vs the citrus smell others report. It has good body and nice flavor. Bitter flavor but the malt aromas overpower the hop aromas. ABV pretty well hidden. More of a dark ale than black IPA. I would like to have more of the citrus or pine flavors of black IPAs. This is good beer but didnít knock my socks off like I expected.
