Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Oct 26, 2009 Old ebf rating. Pours a bruin body with a tan head. Bourbon and oak notes, some lighter chocolate and vanilla notes. Sweet and rich, decent brew. FlssmrBrewAlum (1053), Lisle, Illinois, USA Aug 10, 2009
Sampled at GTMW 2009 (Madison, WI). Pours a very dark brown amber, hazed, good big tan head that laces well. Aromas are bourbon, a touch of dark fruit, caramel and brewhouse smell. Initial is biscuity and warming, with a touch of dark fruit, caramel, syrupy sweetness, with light bourbon and oak. Lighter bodied, but great flavors. The barrel adds some character and finishes with a decent warming bourbon / booziness with fairly potent sweetness. MatSciGuy (627), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA Feb 18, 2009 [Tap] at Winterfest 2009. Pours a deep brown with a small tan head. Aroma is pretty much solid bourbon, with maybe a touch of sweeter malt. Flavor is, again, mostly bourbon. I haven’t had the base beer so it was a bit difficult to notice any subtleties when I didn’t really know what to look for. Sweet, malty finish with a lingering bourbon note. JK (2943), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Feb 13, 2009 I didn’t care for One that much, and usually I don’t like bourbon in my beer, but Bourbon One is a great success. Sweet and thick, and very low carbonation. Lots of sweet malt, some fruit. No perceivable hops, but there is a significant amount of bourbon, and it tastes and smells great. One of the highlights of Winterfest 2009. timbeer (41), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA Feb 9, 2009 Winterfest 09 - a rich, dark amber color with notes of bourbon and vanilla a bit sweet but that did not carry through to the flavor very much. A complex beer that I enjoyed very much. DalzAle (473), Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA Feb 7, 2009 Winterfest 2009. Pour was a dark brown/amber with nice strong bourbon aroma. Flavor was a lot rich sweet malts, some vanilla and smooth bourbon all the way through. I can see why this was voted the best of winterfest last night. WisconsinBeer (514), St Paul, Minnesota, USA Feb 7, 2009 On tap, Winterfest 2009 St. Paul MN. Pours a deep brownish red color with a thin whispy head. Huge sugar sweet malt flavors to start, rolls into notes of Bourbon with a White Oak aged finish. Lingering stickiness on the palate. Notes of alcohol toward the end. Thick and chewy. A bit sweet, but overall solid. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Aug 18, 2008 Name: BA One
