4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 MBrausen (63) - Minnesota, USA - JAN 18, 2012
Poured from a can into a pint glass. Canned 12/20/11
A. Poured a deep dark brown, nice foamy mocha head, about 4mm thick with a mild-aggressive pour, resides to a nice 1mm thick head after sitting for a few minutes.
S. Smells nicely of coffee, somewhat sweet smelling for a brown ale, oats and brown sugar, slight hops with a mild chocolate.
T. Tastes nicely of roasted coffee and brown sugar, mild chocolate, with a oatmeal finish and maybe even a little bit of honey taste.
M. Medium body, which is nice given the rich smell, dry and chewy with a tingling finish.
O. A very good beer. Well balanced thickness and chewiness, the flavors are very well balanced and compliment each other well, the coffee is not excessively dominate. A great anytime beer, I might have one with breakfast :)

The Dan Journal #494. Tasted 1/12/12. 16oz Can. Pours pitch and opaque with a thick cream colored head. Aromas of fudge brownies and coffee. Medium to full bodied with a huge malt bill. Rich and roasted with both sweet and tart flavors mixed in with the solid coffee character. Sticky finish with dark chocolate and fudge notes. Nice and solid drinking.

12oz can from Zipps Liquor in MN, shared with Brett and Brian. Nose is hugely coffee like fresh roasted, then iced coffee... taste is more of the same coffee taste with some hint of malt.. only downfall from this beer to me is the body is very thin still a fantastic smelling beer.. one of the best in fact.
4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 nbondi (151) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 2, 2012
Espresso brown, darker than most brown ales. Off white frothy head. Nose of roasted coffee beans. Medium body, good carbonation. Bitter, roast coffee prevails. Some vanilla, lots of roastiness not much else going on here. Pretty good beer, largely enjoyable...I feel like this beer is preying on my weaknesses, and doesn’t deserve this rating, but here it is.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 bluejacket74 (640) - Reynoldsburg, Ohio, USA - DEC 30, 2011
16 ounce can, canned on date of 12/09/11. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours dark brown with an inch tan head. Both the head retention and lacing are good. Aroma is coffee, roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate, and some nuts. The taste is pretty much the same as the aroma, but there’s also a bit of vanilla noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a bit creamy and slick and is well carbonated. I think this is a pretty good overall brew, I liked it a lot. It’s heavy on the coffee in both the aroma and taste, and that’s a good thing for me. It’s certainly worth trying, I know I’d like to get more of this brew in the future.
