3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
From can. Canned on 12/10/12. Pours deep brown with thick foam that does not recede much. Similar to a good stout. Totally unique aroma. Like coffee with cream, toast, and nuts. Just a but if hop aroma punches through. Taste is like bitter light roast coffee. The hop bitterness really lingers at the end. Mouth is thick and chewy. I was thinking I would like this better than the original since I'm a coffee fan, but I do not. Won't be drinking more than my 4 pack.

Can (canned 1/6/14) poured into a nonic pint glass. Pours a dark brown almost black color with half an inch of light tan head. Big coffee on the aroma, bits of dark chocolate. Tasting notes of big roasty and burnt coffee, dark chocolate, caramel. Very coffee forward on the aroma and taste, coffee flavors dominate. Thin mouthfeel. Medium carbonation and body with a semi-dry finish. Pretty easy drinker for coffee lovers.

Another bravo to Surly for this delicious coffee beer. The aroma is as rich as the flavor in this amazingly tasteful beer. Rich foamy head with staying power. Amazing!

brought a pint can home from a trip to MN, along with several other Minneapolis area brews.
It pours out dark, dark brown with a tan head and the aroma of expresso wafts up from the glass. The taste was quite bitter, much more so than other coffee stouts I have had. The mouthfeel is a little thin too, not as boozy as I had hoped. Worth trying, but there are other brews from Surly I like a lot more

@Gyllenbock: ganska diskret doft men en len och trevlig smak som är balanserad utan att sticka ut.

Pours dark brown with a tan head. Nose is of espresso and chocolate. Like a chocolate covered bean. Or iced coffee. Taste is exactly the same. Quite thin. Nice carb. Easy drinking.

Mörkbrun öl med lättare beige skum. Kaffe dominerar nästan helt i doften. I smaken finns lite mer choklad och vanilj. Lite som att dricka en god icecoffee.

thnx to Belgbeergeek
Pours almost black , good fast fading white head .
Smell is pure cold coffee, and so is the taste . Bitter, indeed , and I can find some stuff in there I might like, but the cold-coffee factor ruins it all for me ...
