The Dan Journal #494. Tasted 1/12/12. 16oz Can. Pours pitch and opaque with a thick cream colored head. Aromas of fudge brownies and coffee. Medium to full bodied with a huge malt bill. Rich and roasted with both sweet and tart flavors mixed in with the solid coffee character. Sticky finish with dark chocolate and fudge notes. Nice and solid drinking.

Deep brown in color. Strong coffee aroma. Light bodied with a coffee strength in the flavor.

Sampled at ESBLS. Dark brown with a lot of amber. Minimal head. Lots of coffee in the aroma. That dominates the flavor, too. Dry and very roasted. Again, coffee. A little grass under that. Pretty good stuff.

Black with ruby highlights when held up to light, small head. Sweet mocha aroma. Taste is sweet coffee, chocolate and caramel with light roasted malt and some hop bitterness that provides balance. Very smooth and pleasant tasting. Very nice! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

16 oz can poured a couple times recently, and this beer just keeps getting better and better. Pours a cloudy muddy brown color with a huge black coffee grounds aroma. Flavor is coffee up front, as expected. This beer is heavier on coffee than any other beer I can think of. Good thing I love coffee. If you do, you will absolutely love this beer. Espresso flavor will stick around for the better part of the evening. This beer seems like it would be fantastic at about 7 A.M. Not that I’m gonna go do that, but this beer is so coffee centered, it would go quite appealing. Another incredible beer from these guys. Loved it.

Reminiscent of your first newborn, that heavy aroma of coffee in the waiting room air. Big, juicy malt balanced by a tiny cut of hop bitterness. Hop fruitiness is nice and tames the huge coffee flavor. This is incredible ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can, thanks to Andrew! Pours a mostly clear darker brown color with a moderate pillowy tan head on there. Nose is heavy on the coffee and roasting, with just a hint of bread underneath. Taste has a nice little coffee bite to it with some bitterness, and a dry toasty finish. Really nice drink.

Aroma is coffee, malts, chocolate and earth. The flavor is coffee, mocha/chocolate, mild nuttiness, dark malts and a mix of slight hops and acidity in the finish.

Dark garnet brown pour with a two finger tan head that has great retention and leaves sparse lacing. Aroma is big on roasty, smooth, cold brewed coffee, some chocolate, caramel, cereal and light woody notes. Flavor is roasty, mellow coffee, a little char, light woody notes, brown malt, light floral notes and some spicy, sprucy hops. Light to medium body, creamy, but slightly dry entry, with a slight acidity, medium, blanketing carbonation. Really good stuff, great, surprisingly fresh coffee character.

Look: pours a dark brown. Clear. Light brown head. Smell: coffee. Expresso. Roasted malts. Taste: heavy coffee. Expresso. Roasted malts. Smoked malts. Tastes like cold coffee that needs sugar. Feel: slightly dry from the coffee. Overall: good beer if you like coffee. Not my style. First drank: home 3/9/15 Vintage: 2/9/15
