Oh great, a fizzy yellow beer in a can, that’s just what the craft beer world needs! CynicAle melds Old World ingredients in a new school style. French malted barley, English oats and Belgian yeast create honey and black pepper flavors. Lively Slovenian hops provide the floral, apricot and peach notes. From the can this brew pours a light colored orange with a persistent white head. The aroma is all farmhouse, with tons of esters, flowery and pleasant. Nice full flavored beer that finishes slightly sweet. Overall quite enjoyable, though it might be nice if it were a bit drier.

A: Honey-Amber body... moderate offwhite head.. decent retention.. not too much in the way of lacing S: Honey, Pepper, Funk, Yeast, Clove and some Banana M: Much like the nose with Honey, Banana, Clove and the Funk taking the front seat as the pepper and yeasty flavors follow suit... delicate flavoring, the flavors are surely present but do not over power or interfere with each other. S: Light bodied, slightly fizzy, not as crisp of a finish as i’d prefer D: In the end, this is a top notch brew... might be improved if i had served it on the cooler side of the spectrum... Many thanks to mnjeff for the trade!

Pours a clear golden color with a medium white head. The aroma is clove and pepper with some soap and light notes of grapes, peaches, and grainy malts. The flavor is nice and dry with pepper, clove, hints of soap and a decent bitter finish. There’s some very strong flavors of peach toward the finish. It’s light on the palate and smooth. Not terribly complex, but tasty.

16oz can into snifter. Pours straw yellow with medium white head. Crisp aroma of spicy yeast. Mouthfeel is light smooth with excellent carbo. Taste is lemony peppery and yeasty. Best saison out of a can thus far.

In the bottle at Bill B’s 2010 summer beer tasting party. From the tall boy can. Orange gold in color with a thin white head. Juicy fruit aroma. Dry fizzy palate. The harshness is just too much. Perhaps there is some black pepper here, but this is just not a pleasant beer. I can’t see what all the hubbub is about.

Can. Rapidly diminishing frothy, white head. Clear golden body. The aroma has notes of toasted grain, soap, herbs, earthiness, clove and pepper with hints of grass, lemon, perfume and pepper. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly bitter and lightly acidic. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly bitter with a light to moderate acidity. Medium body, oily texture turning sticky and fizzy/lively carbonation. The aroma, while not overpowering, hints at complexity, but the sweet taste with too much soapiness and too much spice is disappointing. Just OK.
