3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 noncaloric (684) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 26, 2008
UPDATED: MAR 9, 2009 Strong yeast-dominated aroma. Clear amber gold, white head, some lace. The yeasty front blends with floral hops, building to a very tasty point in the middle, then fading to a slightly fruity (apricot) finish. Slightly thin bodied, but lively.

Thanks to Honkeybra’s Pig Pappa. Crushed with Jakebra. Tastes goldeny but not as bad. Kinda bad, but not so bad. Go hiking. And Frisbee golf, don’t forget the Frisbee golf.

Pours a golden yellow with a thick white head that clings to the glass. Aroma is fruity, apricot a little bit of corn. Flavory is fruity and spicey. I get the pepper. Lacks funk. Still, pretty good saison, even though it’s weird it comes in a can. Wish I had access to this regularly, actually.

Pours gold in color with some reddish tones to it. Very nice inch of head from the pour sticks around for awhile. Smell is floral, yeasty, and peppery.
Much more spicey and peppery in the taste. Very good mouthfeel. Wonderfully biting and carbonated. This could use a touch of sweetness and funk. Very easy drinking and very delightful.

Draught at GABF 2008. Clear yellow - white head. Licorice, yeasty, rubber, fruity, timian, thyme, sweetness, light sourness, peppery, dusty. Too much sweetness.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 GAManiac (1852) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - NOV 1, 2008
Pours a clear golden yellow with little trails of bubbles rising to the top. The head was a two finger fluffy white that dissipated to a collar with decent lacing.
The aroma has Belgian yeast and light fruits, apricots mainly. Spices also play a big part in the nose as well, but this is on the sweeter side of saisons.
The taste follows the aroma pretty well but with a noticeable grassy hop kick up front before melding into the Belgian yeast base. The fruits mix in as well and the finish is slightly peppery with other spices thrown in.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied with good carbonation.
This is a seriously drinkable brew from Surly, like most of their offerings.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 FunkyBrewster (1316) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 29, 2008
Pours a hazy golden orange with a small pillowy white head. Aroma is fruity and tart with a bit of spiciness to it. Notes of peach and maybe apple. Very floral and pungent. Flavor starts out surprisingly malty and grainy. Strong citrus fruitiness appears in the middle. Hops bitterness really comes on strong before a sweet apricot and sugary finish that rides and lingers for awhile. Medium body and average carbonation. Nicely fruity but lacking enough spice to make it stand out and become well balanced.
