Pours pale gold with good head that fades quickly and no lacing. Aroma is some apricot, but mainly just yeasty sweetness. Taste is peppery yeast that subsides into a slightly malty yeast aftertaste. This is drinkable for me as far as yeasty Belgians go, but I can’t say it redeems the style for me as a whole. It’s clean though. If I ever fall in love with yeast, this is a solid option.

16oz can courtesy of kevin’s order. Thanks! A: Brilliant gold color, mostly clear, with a 1/4" hhead. Bubbles rise through the body like there’s a geyser at the bottom. N: Yeast, banana, clove. A little peach in here. Flaky oats. Black pepper and salt. Clean nose, if overwhelmed by the esters. T: Very peppery. Floral hops, apricote notes, lots of yeasty esters again. Has a distinct oatmeal quality. Some green apple tartness. Can be a little too sharp, as there are too many hops to maintain balance. M: Has a loose, light mouthfeel. Feels like there’s a low amount of carbonation, somewhat surprisingly. O: Decent, but not something I’d seek out too often. The mash-up of styles doesn’t work well for me.

16 oz can. Lightly hazy burnt orange with a ring of cream. Smells of grape must, spicy apple, brown sugar, light rust and citrus. Taste is earthy honeycomb, evergreen resin, dry white grape, cedar and peppery orange. Peach and oak in the aftertaste. Medium body is almost too fizzy at times, but has a nice dry finish and is damn sessionable.

On tap at Surly’s tap room prior to a tour. Not my favorite Surly offering - but a good entry if you like a warped in a good way Saison.
