3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 craftycarl21 (1584) - Washington DC, USA - JUN 5, 2011
Cloudy golden pour with a bit of a frothy head. Really a classic saison, but done really well; great notes of bready yeast, peach and orange peel, some peppery spiciness, and a really nice crisp refreshing palate. Solid stuff.

Wow. I was expecting a lot and Surly delivered. Pours a dark yellow. Stone fruit notes followed by a strong drain taste. Light but packs a punch.

Pours a slightly cloudy orange color with a moderate off white head. Aroma is of lots of fruits, pear, peach and some light spice. Taste is complex and rather well balanced. Fruity notes, apricot, light pear, spices, pepper, some yeast, dough and a little bitterness in the background. Solid, easy drinking brew.

Not my favorite brew from surly, but then again nt my favorite style either. Pours a golden color with a decent size head that fades rather quickly with minimal lacing. Aroma has hints of citrus and banana, taste follows suit. Does go down pretty smooth though which I have come to expect from many a can of furious and bender prior to trying this brew. Overall a good beer but not surly’s best.

A - Pours a slightly cloudy golden-orange color with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down to a thick ring around the glass leaving behind some nice lacing on the glass.
S - Aroma is a mix of some Belgian yeast and wheat. There is some spices and banana mixed in a well. Some earthiness and funk mix in too.
T - Starts off with some tart lemon and Belgian yeast flavors. There is a bit of wheat in the background. Thorough the middle some spices (pepper and clove) and banana come through. The finish is a mix of yeast and lemon and a touch of spice that lingers nicely.
M - Medium-light bodied with moderate lively carbonation. Feels really nice and smooth and really crisp. Has a fairly dry mouthfeel that is really nice.
D - Very drinkable. The flavors are really nicely balanced. A nice American take on the saison style. The flavors are all there and could have been just a touch stronger.

Can. Pours amber with a medium white head. Aroma is grass, hops, banana, wheat, and pineapple. Flavor is banana, pineapple, and pepper. Medium body. Not bad...i think its past its prime though.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ekoerper (308) - Iowa, USA - MAY 5, 2011
Lots of fruit in the aroma; light banana, lemon, light orange and apple. Also some yeasty aromatics, pepper, light malts. Pours hazy straw-light golden with a thick white head, good retention, some lacing. Flavor is light and refreshing; lots of citrus fruits, banana, and spicy pepper and hops. Bready malt character and a touch of yeast, some bitterness in the background, residual sweetness is less than most state-side saisons, but seems a bit higher than the standard Belgian saisons. Light body and medium-high carbonation, somewhat silky on the palate, very nice.
