Oh great, a fizzy yellow beer in a can, that’s just what the craft beer world needs! CynicAle melds Old World ingredients in a new school style. French malted barley, English oats and Belgian yeast create honey and black pepper flavors. Lively Slovenian hops provide the floral, apricot and peach notes. Toss your doubts away, toss one back and enjoy!

Can. Brilliant gold with a coarse white head. Bold spicy yeast aroma with a hint of fruit and old books found in the basement. Citrusy sweet flavor that fades to a dry peppery spiciness with some coriander and then a little sweetness comes back at the end. Seems as if it should be so drinkable and yet I don’t find that to be true. Oh well, a beer can be well made and still not be for everyone.

Poured from can into tulip. Translucent orangey- gold with thin sticky white head. Smell has yeast, light fruit, a little funk. Taste is spicy, fruity, maybe a little earthy, but not overly intense. Feel is very slightly fizzy, kind of light. Overall, a mild, very drinkable example of the style. Not my favorite type of brew, but this one is pretty good for what it is.

On tap at Dry Hop. It poured a clear light copper. Light malty bitter aroma, the flavor is malty, light spices and quite tasty. Once it warmed up you got more zesty saison like flavors - solid.

16oz can from Four Firkins with a 7/28/14 date. Golden pour. Aroma consists of straw and spices, with belgian-y yeastyness. Taste follows ... light fruit, spices, grapes, sweet pale malts and straw, with candied sugar. Was trying to figure out why never rated this brew while sure I’ve had it, but now I know why - not a favorite style and such a belgian-y version. Did they mix up batches with their first belgian ale? 12.7

1 pint can. Pours a clear, golden yellow with slight sediment, and a one finger, white head. Aroma has some great notes of candy sugar, citrus, and bubble gum ogre some slight spice and traditional hops. Taste is balanced. Some candy sugar but it isn’t sweet. Citrus, mild spice, and traditional hops. Pretty tasty. Medium body with a medium-high carbonation. Clean in the mouth with a lively carbonation and semi dry finish. Overall pretty good. The Belgian yeast adds an interesting dimension.
