Nov 2, 2009 Poured from can into Nonic Imperial Pint.
Dark orange-red, lava-like, persistent 1/4 inch head, lots of lacing on glass. Just gorgeous!
Aroma of pine, pine and pine; some citrus and Scottish malt.
Juxtaposition of pine bitterness and semi-sweet Scottish malts. It seems that there is a slight peat flavor, but maybe that is my imagination since I know about the Scottish malt. Bitter at end.
Relatively low carbonation for the style. Exceedingly smooth, similar to a DIPA. Very dry.
Immensely drinkable due to the flavor and smoothness, but the bitterness really builds on the taste buds. I love really bitter beer, but usually don’t want too much at once.
What is this beer exactly? The high IBUs and feel makes it a DIPA, but the lower alcohol brings it back to regular American IPA status. However, it also has characteristics of a Scottish Ale. Anyway, this is a kick ass beer.

Nov 1, 2009 Can from allendodd. Thanks for this famous ale! Slightly hazy copper ale with a 3-finger beige head. Very hoppy aroma. Underlying caramel. Medium body with average carbonation. The flavor is both citrus and resin. Wow! Also seems floral. Malt? Probably. WGAS. This is a hop bomb from the old NorthWest. Woot. Yea. Moving to Minnesota. The ale lives up to its reputation.

Nov 1, 2009 @ a tasting, thanks David for sharing this one, pours cognac color with a medium tan head, aroma of orange, lemon, malt and white wine, bitter flavor with low sweetness, grapefruit peel, quite boring, medium bodied.

Oct 31, 2009 16 ounce can thanks to Levi. Pours a dark amber hue with a large white head and lots of lacing. The aroma is great; rich caramel, malts, and ton of spicy fruity hops. The flavor is just great; rich spicy bitter hops, very fresh tasting with a bitter pine finish on your palate. Lots of caramel and malt flavors as well. Smooth and easygoing, but a flavor explosion. Among my favorite IPAs ever. Awesome.

Oct 31, 2009 Pours a very amber/chestnut brown color with golden orange hues and a two finger frothy yellowish beige head that lasts, leaving soapy chunks of lacing in it’s path.
Earthy floral hop aroma with a bit of biscuit and caramel malt. There is also a good bit of citrus aroma with hints of lemon peel and grapefruit as well as some earthy dank pine.
Nice chewy resinous medium body that is very refreshing and well balanced. Caramel and biscuit malt backbone provide a nice balance to the huge hop profile without overpowering it. Plenty of fresh, dank, resinous hop flavor with hints of citrus lemon and orange peel as well as some grapefruit and nice dry earthy pine notes. Again, this is an extremely well balanced beer that I have to stop myself from pounding. An excellent session beer that I wish I had greater access to.

Oct 30, 2009 16 oz. can poured a clear tarnished copper with a lingering ring of amber foam. Aromas of carmel, tangerine, pine and light tropical fruit. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of carmel, pine, grapefruit and light orange zest with a crisp lingering bitter finish.

Oct 29, 2009 This is really tasty. On tap. Strong hops with somewhat smeet malt blend. Strong pine and floral flavors but not the citrusness of west coast ipas. Still a great, interesting. Pours a dark deep orange with a light frothy head. Too bad I can’t get this locally.

Oct 29, 2009 At a tasting, thanks David, stable lasting off white head, clear copper colour, aroma of mandarine and flowery hops, strong hoppy bitter with flavours of orange blossoms, and a light touch of malt in the back, strong but feels a little diluted, short aftertaste
