COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like Hops? You’ll like this fire-hued beer. This is the beer I have always dreamed of making. This is the beer that would come to mind while spending the last two years tearing down walls, hanging sheetrock, moving kegs, power washing the ceilings, arguing with various agencies, and cutting the water main. Without Golden Promise malt, made by family-owned Simpsons Malt, Furious would just be pissed offed. From Scotland, this malt is still produced in the tradition of turning over the barley by hand, resulting in a malt that is unsurpassed in its quality. Golden Promise is also used extensively by premium whisky distilleries such as The Macallan. This malt provides the backbone for the intense hop character. Four American hop varieties are used at a rate of over three pounds per barrel. The result is a rich malt sweetness infused with bright hop flavor and aroma from beginning to end. Oh yeah, it’s about 6% alcohol and around 100 IBUs.

Very good for a "regular" IPA. Frothy and resilient head, citrusy and resiny smell, non offensive flavor that could sit at a bench with it’s bigger DIPA brothers. This would absolutely be my go-to IPA, if only we could regularly get it here.

UPDATED: MAR 20, 2010 TAP: amber pour, aroma of citrus, pine, and hop. Taste is sweet citrus hops with some malt to back it up, with a dry hop finish with a little alcohol presence. Tea-bagged Furious. Wonderful - tea flavor comes through, with a little bitterness.

Courtesy Secret Santa. Pours a dark amber color with a huge, pillowy off white head that slowly recedes and leaves sheets of lacing behind. The aroma shows a good dose of caramel malts with some citrus and grapefruit hops as well. The flavor folloows with the orange and grapefruit hops up front and then quickly balanced out by the big caramel malt backbone. It is not as hoppy as I was expecting, but a great flavor. A very substantial body for an IPA, but is very smooth and easy to drink. Finishes sweet with some hop bitterness on the backend. I love the way this one tastes, but I would love to try a fresh can as I think mine had lost its bite. Nice IPA.

16 oz. can courtesy of Beerlando. Clear, copper color with a thick, frothy, white head. Tons of lacing. The aroma is out of this world. Tons of citrus hops, but there is some piney notes lurking in the shadows. Nice malt forward flavor with some subtle sweetness. This gives way to a bitter flavor with tons of sticky hop resins. Short bitter finish. Wow, what a great beer.

Honestly, my favorite beer...my deserted island beer. Pours a reddish hue, with tons of frothy head. Vigorous lacing clings to the glass. It has intense aromas of serious grapefruit, spice, citrus, and pine. The flavors are unbelievablely balanced, even in this unbalanced IPA, showing a strong malty forefront which melds well with the intense hop backbone...just the perfect amount of malty sweetness presence. The finish seems to last minutes on the palate, as the sting of your tongue gently fades...not to mention, it’s only 6% abv, which is a feat in itself to have so much complexity in such a small abv.

Crazy that this came from a can. Pours a darker orange colour with a small offwhite head and some lacing. Aroma is sweet pink grapefruit but then some pine sap in the finish. The flavour is similar with sweeter, citrus hops at first and then finishing with some stronger bitterness. Good malt backbone keeps this well balanced. Near the top end of IPAs.
